Feedback
Went here today for dinner. I love that they have a variety of dishes both Vietnamese and Chinese! But the broth of Bun nuoc leo and the soup from Com are a bit salty. I got 2 candies when paid lol.
Busy but food was okay. Phu Quoc is a Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant located at the top of the shopping strip of Cabramatta. We decided to have lunch here as we were recommended to try the sugar cane prawn and fried rice paper rolls. We also tried the crispy chicken with fried egg rice and freshly made lemon juice. I did enjoy the sugar cane prawn, it was sweet and salty, nice balance of flavors. It came with 2 big sugar cane prawns, a plate of rice paper sheets, hot water to dip the sheets, basket of variety of mint, lettuce, strips of cucumber and bean sprouts which I decided not to have. There was also vermicelli, pickled carrot and radish. It tasted nice when wrapped into a roll and dipped into the sauce but lacked crunch as the lettuce was not iceberg. The mint wasn't very fresh. The dipping sauce was a bit too salty but nice. I also didn't like how the vermicelli were stacked up high and cut into chunks that I didn't know where to peel it to reveal the layers of noodle so I ended up having chunks of noodle in my wrap making it difficult to roll. Nothing else stood out for me. When the crispy chicken with fried egg rice arrived at our table, I had a feeling that we weren't going to enjoy it and I was right. The skin of the chicken looked really dark and didn't have the nice crunch to it. The chicken wasn't moist and lacked flavour. Only the dipping sauce added flavour to the dish but without it, it just tasted plain. The rice also didn't have flavour. The clear broth that came with the dish was nice and wasn't too salty. The other disappointment were the fried rice paper rolls. It came with a side of lettuce, mint, and pickled vegetables. It didn't look appetising, looked like oily sausages, I would have preferred them to have cut it up in small pieces. Because it was so long, it wasn't nicely rolled either. The filling was more sweet than salty, it didn't taste any better with the dipping sauce. The skin didn't have a nice crispy crunch, it was slightly chewy. The freshly made lemon juice was nice and refreshing. I won't be back to try the other dishes.
