I had brunch here on May 23 with a colleague, and we discovered this lovely spot in Burnsville through the HappyCow app. I ordered the vegan stew with potatoes, and while the food was good, I found the portion of tofu to be a bit small for the price of $15.50, though it was organic. My colleague really enjoyed her waffle. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful, especially when sitting outdoors, and they also off... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Olivia's Organic Cafe:
Pros: amazing tasting food (except bacon). Truly gluten free (GF). Dairy free (DF). Vegan options. Cons: 2 slices of floppy bacon is $5. Breakfast for 2 was $60 (only 2 lattes, 2 plates, side of bacon and a cinnamon roll). You get a table but then you have to go up to order. You have to go up to refill your own coffee and water. I had to go up to the counter to ask for more syrup. There is no service here except for... View all feedback.

We ended up spending over $50 for two basic plates of food and water (with no paid drinks) plus a 20% tip that we reluctantly paid upfront when ordering. I understand that higher costs are often associated with locally sourced, natural ingredients, but for this price, the service and overall experience should have been exceptional. The food was fresh and came out in a reasonable amount of time. However, upon entering, we were confused by the host stand’s instruction to wait to be seated, which was immediately followed by a note to order at the counter. After standing there for a moment, unsure of what to do, one of the several employees—there were 3 to 5 behind the counter with no customers—called us over and handed us menus instead of coming to the host stand. We were then told to seat ourselves and return to the counter to order when we were ready. After ordering at the counter (where we had to tip on a computer and also saw a tip jar), we went to fill our plastic compostable cups with water, only to find both jugs completely empty. We notified the employees, who seemed more interested in their phones and socializing than customer service. After returning to our booth, where the seat material was peeling away, we waited for the water to be refilled. When we went back to fill our cups again, we had to wait once more. While waiting, I kept one of the menus to read and came across the restaurant’s tagline "Dolce far niente," which translates to “the sweetness of doing nothing.” This felt particularly ironic considering that we had to take so many steps ourselves—seating ourselves, ordering at the counter, frequently walking back to refill our water, and even searching for a to-go box for our leftovers (surprisingly, we didn’t have to bus our own dishes). During the entire meal, not a single employee checked on us. I suppose this phrase might apply to the staff who were chatting and enjoying themselves behind the counter while collecting double tips from customers upfront. I can't fault them entirely since the whole system seems to be set up and managed by the owner or higher management, not by the young hourly workers. In conclusion, I do understand that it’s possible to charge $50 for a basic breakfast featuring local and organic ingredients, but the service and atmosphere must match the price point, and unfortunately, they didn’t deliver.
YUM! Food, staff and atmosphere was great! We loved everything about it. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
The food is amazing and I am gluten free so it’s hard to find good places to eat but Olivia’s has amazing gluten free options Kid-friendliness: They have waffles, pancakes and a lot more Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp for people in wheelchairs Dietary restrictions: They have a lot of gluten free options and vegetarian options. Service: Dine in
I have never been so happy in my life! The entire menu is gluten free and I don?t have to worry about getting sick. Most options can be made dairy free as well. I would recommend the chicken and waffles and the cinnamon roll. The price is worth it. I will be coming back when I?m in town again.
