Wah Lun Chinese Restaurant has been one of my go-tos for dim sum for many years. They changed their name to Ryan’s Chinese Restaurant a few years ago, but also still go by Wah Lun as well. Specialty BBQ pork buns: If there’s one thing you must get here, it is their BBQ pork buns! They have the best BBQ pork buns ever. The bun is coated in a sugary egg yolk thing, and is always fresh and fluffy. The BBQ pork inside is... View all feedback.
What OlenaS doesn't like about Wah Lun:
We arrived late and had one hour to close but they seated us without hesitation. They were more interested in cleaning to close the restaurant than serving us. Had no help choosing from their menus and settled on a combo. Food was very bland, very little protein. Really disappointed because we always see line ups out the door for this place so I'm not sure if we just ordered the wrong items or if they were having an... View all feedback.
Excellent authentic Chinese food, good prices, modest decor, efficient service. Best value Chinese Restaurant.
We live 4.2k within their 5k delivery area. So we online ordered enough food for 3 people and we waited and waited and waited. The food never came so I called and they asked if I was picking it up to which I said no, I asked for delivery, they asked where I lived, I replied under 5 k away from you at Bottom of SFU they said, no we don 't go there. You pay cash? "I said "nope, I chose debit. "They said no but the order was ready. I said they can keep it and hung up.
The food is great! We have eaten at the restaurant and had delivery, both great, dish size is larger than most places. I am giving 3 stars only because I just came back home from there with no food. Made an online order for pick up and the printer the order comes in on is in a room/office with the door shut and apparently they don't even go in that room. Why have an online ordering system if you're not checking? I can't be the only one ordering online? This is the second time it happened, the first time about a year ago, I ordered online at noon for pick up at 5, on my way home from work... nothing, so obviously they don't check for hours. Both times was for a party of 6 so $100 worth of food they lost out on, I was so angry! I love their food and was so looking forward to it. And so were my guests that had never tried it. Big lose for Wah Lun.
We ordered the wonton soup for lunch. Simple enough. Athough the restaurant had only 5 tables to service the staff didnt appear to want to take our order. After another 10 minutes and order finally taken and another 45 minutes later we were discussing whether it would be prudent to just walk out. The 4 staff members/servers were more intent on folding napkins and cleaning than servicing the patrons whom they studiously ignored. Service is terrible, soup was mediocre and no bill presented unless you get up and request it. No tip given. Just plain bad.
Looking for some Chinese take out? I wanted to get some take out and wanted to try this Chinese restaurant as it was close to the neighbourhood. I called in and ordered the Honey garlic spareribs and the Chicken chow mein. The person who took the order said it would take about 15 mins, to my surprise it was quick. They had their own parking and there were plenty of space, there is also street parking as well. As I got there all the items were ready on time and were also piping hot. The items were very reasonably priced. The restaurant wasn't too busy so hence we didn't have to wait for the take out order too long. The Honey garlic spareribs to my surprise were quite delicious, sweet crunchy and well made. The Chicken chow mein was done pretty good as well, enough portions of chicken, bean sprouts, mushrooms, and sauce. These both dishes were hot despite being take out. Next time will come back and visit for dinner and dim sum :
