But tonight it was my friend's pick and also in part because we were curious about how just how many types of wontons there could be in a wonton house, we wandered in. Our family has supported Mr. Ho's for 30 years, but we just can't justify the slide in food taste and quality at the much higher prices they now charge.We used to have lunch there weekly now when we go in it's very quiet. OMG so good, aging sweet and sour chicken balls more chicken than batter. beef curry with rice was my husband favorite, rice was fluffy and not like rock pillets.
The General Tao's Chicken was not authentic...slices of chicken breast in an overly spicy sauce is not it. The ginger beef was dry and old, the shrimp in the house chow mein was fishy and dirty tasting, and the sliced meat tasted a week old. Generally gross.
I have been ordering directly from Mr. Ho 's Wonton house since 2005. I have always been happy with the quality and QUANTITY of their food and developed an excellent report with their super friendly delivery driver(s). This time I went through Door Dash and was surprised with the results. The portions were considerably less than previous orders. I could literally count the slices of chicken in the chicken chow mein on one hand, which was a feat in of itself, considering they were no more than an inch in length and a 1/4 of an inch in width...Maximum! I specifically order the Braised Tofu with Chinese Mushroom rather than the same WITH mixed vegetables because I am interested in the Chinese Mushroom! I received the later with TWO THIN SLICES of the lovely Chinese Mushroom I was SO very much looking forward to...TWO SLICES!!! The containers used to be so full that you could hardly close them, this time there was plenty of room to spare. However, the BBQ Pork fried rice, the egg rolls and the Spicy Green Beans were FABULOUS! I may have to try another place if I continue using Door Dash, but I 'm not giving up on Mr. Ho yet.
Prawns Seasonal Vegetable Chow Mein was HORRIBLE. The noodles on the top were dark brown and hard as rocks. They were burnt! The yellow noodles in the middle were soft and the noodles on the bottom were burnt. How could they let this leave the restaurant like this? They clearly saw how they put this in the dish. Unacceptable.This happened once before to us. LAST TIME EVER.
