Fattoria E Mare - Burlingame
Fattoria E Mare
Description
The restaurant overall had a mixed review from various customers. While some found the portions small and the prices too high for the quality of food, others praised the exceptional flavors and presentation of the dishes. Some customers were disappointed with the ambiance and lack of options for food, while others enjoyed excellent service and a wonderful dining experience. The Italian restaurant seemed to have a variety of dishes that pleased some customers but left others wanting more. Overall, it seems like a hit or miss restaurant depending on personal preferences and experiences.

On Valentine’s Day was my second time coming to this place. The first time was ok even though they don’t have many option for food and the ones they have it’s not something appetizing and is very expensive. The second time I looked online on the menu and the online menu was good I said why not giving one more try. But the second time now on Valentine’s Day was very disappointing and worse they had only two sheets of paper with the menu and nothing was good and we were going to leave to anywhere else but since we had the bottle of wine that we ordered so we’ve decided to stay for that time. But unfortunately we won’t go back because there is no option for food and the ones they have it’s not appetizing.
The Gnocchi was $20.00 and was more of an appetizer portion and not very good. Our meal came with Potato Gratin which was never brought to us. After we were almost done with our meal, the server finally walked by, but we had to call out to her to advise. We then sat for another 20 minutes and watched the potato gratin sit on the counter waiting for the server to bring to us. When she finally came back with it, we clearly weren't wanting it cold and by itself. It was meant to be served with our ribeye. The whole experience was unfortunate. The ribeye was good. the broccoli was burnt. Over $30 was not acceptable. Hoping she learns from this. Also hope the restaurant revisits pricing for what they offer.
We went for our wedding anniversary and were let down. The place is old and run down. The parking garage had no lights and was very scary as well as unsafe. The food was just okay but the service was good. We will never go back or refer anyone. I got the feeling the space is better for large events, but not for quiet romantic dinners. The open kitchen looked as though it used to be a counter diner. Eh, just not for us.
Our reservation was somehow missed or mixed up and we waited a very long time. The manager was gracious and apologetic and offered us a complementary glass of wine in the bar. However there were two parties going on, one that spilled over into the bar with the loudest partiers squealing and screaming ... we couldn't have a conversation without yelling. Then, when we were finally seated, there was another party in another room next to our table on the other side of the restaurant with Karaoke going ... It was almost comical so we tried to relax and enjoy the food which we did. The waitress was attentive enough and did put a candle in one of our desserts I had specified in the reservation that we were coming to celebrate a birthday. I noticed we weren't charged for our two (delicious persimmon cobbler) desserts. They did all the right things to make up for the botched reservation, but the noise was a deal breaker for returning there to dine.
Three of us had dinner on the sidewalk patio. The service was good the food was excellent. Half moon bay has several very good Italian restaurants but this one was exceptional tonight. The beet salad is a good example of taking a classic dish and making it exceptional. The chef did this on most of the dishes we ordered. Even the bruschetta was a fresh riff on a classic dish. The meal was pricey at $75 per person. The quality of the food was great and the presentation was excellent
