The restaurant offers a delightful selection of bagel flavors, fresh toppings, and a welcoming atmosphere, including a kid-friendly patio. However, some diners express dissatisfaction with customer service, noting occasional rude interactions and discrepancies in pricing. Despite these concerns, many agree that the quality of the food, especially the vegan options, makes it a worthwhile visit for a quick breakfast, with hopes for service enhancements in the future.
The East Coast bagels at this restaurant are delicious! The exterior is chewy and delightful, while the interior is soft and fluffy like a cloud. The in-house made Vegan Cream cheese is a must-try and worth the trip alone. The freshness of the ingredients adds to the overall pleasure of the meal.
I really enjoyed my New York style poppyseed bagels with vegan cream cheese. While they may not be as good as our favorite bagels from Western Bagel on the West Coast, and the cheese was just okay (not as good as my usual Miyoko's brand), the atmosphere at the restaurant is nice. In addition to seating at the front of the restaurant facing the street, they also have a kid-friendly back patio. It's a great place to go for a quick breakfast.
I am writing another review for Hanks because they truly deserve it. The vegan option they offer, while limited to only one sandwich choice, is delicious. Additionally, they have several bagel options with vegan cream cheese. The vegetables on top are incredibly fresh. This updated review is from April 27, 2021.
I love the chewy, massive bagels here and that the staff is soooo friendly and helpful! Love that the bagels are vegan (except for the obvious cheese topping ones or such) and that they carry vegan cream cheese and lots of veggie toppings. Adorable place with a hipster vibe. The restaurant offers a wide variety of bagel flavors, spreads, and custom options. However, the bagels were very hard, making it difficult to enjoy them and causing discomfort in my jaw while trying to eat them.
