Public Espresso - Buffalo
Public Espresso
Description
Public Espresso, a trendy café in downtown Buffalo, has garnered a mix of appreciation and critique. While its aesthetic space, friendly staff, and standout coffee receive accolades, the vegan offerings leave room for improvement. Patrons enjoy the delicious bagel sandwiches and pastries, with favorites like crullers and avocado toast shining. However, some found the lack of variety in vegan options disappointing, as well as the execution of certain dishes, like the tofu breakfast sandwich. Overall, the café provides a vibrant atmosphere for both relaxation and work, making it a noteworthy stop for food enthusiasts in Buffalo.

Pretty disappointed (by the vegan options in Buffalo in general and) by the lack of options here. The staff had that just-saw-an-alien look when I asked about vegan options. One tofu breakfast sandwich but no pastries. Sandwich was alright, mostly just taste the toast, not a lot done to the tofu.
Sunday morning breakfast found us exploring Public Espresso located in Downtown, Buffalo. Trendy describes the decor and atmosphere which consists of walls and furniture painted in chic black and white designs. At the cash register in full display you have a glorious selection of pastries. Today's varieties consisted of 6 different flavours, 4 clearly marked Vegan!!! However, I opted out of a sugar breakfast and went straight to the toasts offerings. They have your traditional jams and cream cheeses, but also peanut butter, maple syrups and the classic avocado toast. Ordering the avocado toast I did ask if it had an egg just in case, and while it doesn't the cashier was quick to say they add butter but are more than happy to make it vegan by omitting. Unprompted which I appreciated, and was proudly told they can make many of their offering vegans if asked. Overall a pleasant experience and will be making my way back. Prices were fair. Portions were generous and most importantly staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
A charming and comfortable café with welcoming, patient staff. We ordered pastries, a latte, The Vlad sandwich, and a breakfast burrito to take away. Everything we tried was incredibly tasty. Definitely plan to come back!
Today, this restaurant doesn't have any vegan pastries available. However, they do serve vegan scrambled eggs, which you can enjoy on a bagel. I chose to add portobello mushrooms and tomato to mine. They also have oat and almond milk for coffee, and for lunch, they offer grain bowls.
