Last night i enjoyed the most amazing dinner as part of a work function. We chose the 9 courses ( our eyes were bigger than our tummies ) the food was absolutely outstanding. A 12 out of 10 if I can say - all portion sizes were spot on and the food is explained with all the local produce so you know exactly what is what and you can then obviously go and purchase the local produce that you enjoyed. I'm pregnant and Ben who took care of our table brought me out a different dish if there was anything I couldn't eat. The service is impeccable and second to none. I have been to pipeclay for breakfast, lunch and dinner on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed- and I have high standards! Well done pumphouse!
We have been here several times as it is a favourite. This time however was not up to the usual standard. We had the five course degustation for lunch. While the pate was superb and the gnocchi was amazing (only 6 pieces for two people), the beef was cooked well done and had gristle still on it. The 'potato fondant' was a few cooked potatoes, no caramelisation in butter, no crispy edges. It came with crispy grated potato. The worst bit was there was plastic in the food. After politely explaining the issues, especially the plastic we were given a free glass of wine. Would have preferred the beef cooked medium rare. If a Hat is what they are after, they are not quite there yet. It's nice, overpriced but most of it is delicious. A bit of fresh bread would be a nice addition. We had to eat again shortly after as the $110 did not fill us up.Sparkling water could be a premium brand. Just a tip for the ladies, the toilet vacant sign stays vacant despite someone licking the door.
We want to go back and steal the recipes for the potato gnocchi and venison carpaccio! I would come back to Mudgee just for this place. Staff were pro's, ambience great and food just mental
Amazing restaurant Probably the most value for money with high quality of food that I have ever been.: can't fault it..
