Mesogios - Bucharest

I used to go there quite a lot some years ago, for fish and sea food dishes, but I doubt that I will be back soon. The food is mediocre, far from what it used to be, the service slow, the waiter was arrogant and not really aware of the basic rules of serving.

Went with a couple of friends on my birthday. The service is very good, the location looks very nice, the food is tasteful but not the best and not according to the prices they are having. The place is ok if you want seafood. Overall it will offer a nice experience.

We had an anniversary dinner in the restaurant. We were more than pleased. Very fresh and tasty starters, like greek salad, aubergine salad, haloumi. And of course, exceptional fresh sea food. Best octopus grilled we ever had. Calamari, shrimps with butter and the excellent fish you choose from the ice.Not to mention the friendly and professional service.It really impressed us. We found the price appropriate.Highly recommended.

This restaurant is situated in the Center of Bucharest 5 minutes walk from the Intercontinental Hotel. This is a very elegant Restaurant with traditional Greek food, with excellent fresh sea food that you pick yourself form an Ice Box.It is a place for a special occasion, or a formal business lunch.

Reviews of this restaurant have raised our level of expectation so much that the reality had no other chance to be but a BIG DISSAPOINTMENT. We came on Sunday for lunch. There were only 2 other tables occupied, the restaurant being pretty big. The showed selection of fish and sea food was limited to anchovies, shrimps, small and big calamari, mussels and 3 types of fish. No paper menu. Market prices are to be learned when you get the bill. No more than 3 white dry wines available (the more expensive ones from a list of 15 -18 names, most not available).The best thing on the table was the warm bread (that's not exactly the reason you go to an expensive fish-place). The fried anchovies were tasty, there is not much you can do wrong there. The grilled calamari with lemon sauce were chewy and the best thing in my pasta with sea-food was the pasta. The market price bill would have been reasonable, in case the food would have been well cooked.We will not return.
