Was Anonym at Hershel’s a mag?
Comfortable rooms with cozy beds and excellent service at the restaurants, just as expected. Poolside service offered typical bar fare like sliders, fish tacos, and drinks. The hotel is conveniently located only a 10-12 minute drive from downtown Bryan and close to the Bush Presidential Library. During our stay, there was live music on a stage by a small lake right in front of the hotel. One of our favorite weekend r... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Hershel’s:
The hotel was wonderful, but the restaurant downstairs was a letdown. I would rate it one star. We received the wrong tables, and my husband expressed concern about the size of his salmon. When it was returned, they replaced the incorrect side dish instead. Overall, it was a poor experience and a major disappointment, ruining what should have been a special occasion. View all feedback.
This was my first time here. Rooms were super clean and roomy. Whole hotel environment was awsome and had plenty to do. Loved the restaurant, pool, courtyard, conference rooms. I can't say enough about this place. Was great for families. Kids can run and play. We will be staying here again.
I stayed at The Stella Hotel for one evening and enjoy my stay. The hotel is rather new and has large clean rooms. I also dined at the restaurant and was able to find health salmon over vegetables which was delicious. I opted for the mobile key so I cannot comment on the check in process, other than doing it by my phone. The process was quick and efficient. My phone worked every time I used it to unlock my room which was nice. The bed was extremely comfortable and large. The sheets and pillows also were comfortable, cool and smelled very clean. I had requested additional bath towels and hand towels through the app prior to arrival. These items were waiting for me which I appreciate. Part of the benefits to booking directly with Marriott are that you can communicate with the hotel prior to your arrival. It is great to see that this hotel has adopted this amenity for guests as my requests were attended to prior to arrival. My only complaints about the room are that there is only a blackout curtain which is very heavy and tall making it difficult to close once open. This was rather inconvenient when I was trying to change as it was extremely dark in the room with curtain closed. I would recommend installing a drape and rod to solve this issue. Also, I found it a little weird that the room did not have stationary and/or pens. Finally, my only knock on the hotel in general is that there is not a little store to buy water. This would go a long way. Overall, really nice hotel. I will return and would recommend it.
The hotel wasn’t bad. It’s a little outside of the hustle and bustle of the city and the lake makes for a nice calming view. However some of the amenities being advertised were still in progress and others were talked up larger than they warrant. For instance the spa amenities are limited to a single hot tub that holds about 4-5 people total. The ‘two’ resort style pools are really just two small pools in the same space separated by a wooden bridge — which is comfortable enough but doesn’t afford the degree of pool capacity as it suggests and resulted in a kid-packed pool during the day. Also oddly enough the hotel restaurant and bar close at around 2PM on Sunday, which is not convenient for a one-stop relaxation shop over a weekend.I was able to take advantage of a Memorial Day weekend lull and get decent rates, but it might’ve been a harder sell at a higher price knowing what we know now.
This is a very intriguing place. The prices are standard for a hotel setting, though not excessively high. They offer some delicious drinks that are quite refreshing. I’m not sure we would make a special trip here unless we were meeting a group.
