Just after a beautiful sailing trip of just under a week, my wife made a reservation at this renowned restaurant. This had been on the wish list for a long time given the love for this delicacy. Logically, you shouldn't be here if you don't like truffles, literally in and especially on every dish a large amount of shavings of these tuberous fruits are sprinkled as if it were nothing. However, the interior and general atmosphere were disappointing. It takes a while to get a click in the head because you get a literal throwback to a fancy restaurant in the mid-80s. Logically, we ended up with a hefty bill and we couldn't see any more truffles for a while (for a very long time). Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
Overall a below-average experience. Maybe I was unlucky with what I chose à la carte, but I don't recommend this restaurant. For such final bill, go elsewhere. Food: tagliolini au beurre de foie gras with white truffle: the sauce was too liquid, thus it did not stick to the pasta, which was not combined at all with the sauce. The taste was ok but a bit insipid. Nothing special. For the sake of completeness, I tried risotto and ravioli from my friends and they were better. Signature dish of the pigeon with Norcia Truffle: I would not recommend it as personally I did not like it. Two pieces of pigeons had a few hairs on the skin. I don't comment further. Wine: very good wine as per sommelier's suggestion. But there was a fly on the wine decanter. They did not even apologise for that. Service: the waiters are kind but they did not describe the dishes at all. All in all, considering the final price, it does not deserve more than 2 stars. Our visit to LA truffe noir for my wife's birthday with friends was a delightful experience, marked by a wonderful atmosphere and excellent cuisine. Atmosphere : The ambiance at LA truffe noir was joyous and inviting, adding a special touch to our small group celebration. The setting, while perhaps not ideal for larger parties, was perfect for our intimate gathering of four, providing a cozy and festive environment. Cuisine : The food was a standout feature. Each dish was expertly prepared, showcasing high-quality ingredients and impressive culinary skill. The flavors were exceptional, and the presentation of the meals enhanced our dining experience. Value for Money : Considering the combination of the enjoyable atmosphere and the quality of the food, the pricing felt appropriate for our small group. It's a place where the cost aligns with the experience, especially for those looking to enjoy a special occasion in a more intimate setting. Final Thoughts : LA truffe noir is a commendable choice for small gatherings looking to celebrate a special event. The restaurant excels in creating a joyous atmosphere and serving excellent cuisine, making it a memorable destination for smaller celebrations.
