What Jim B doesn't like about Orleans Country Club:
If you eat here, sit out on the porch so you can look out over the golf course. The food is generally good but not excellent. The food quality varies year to year depending on who they hire as the chef. This year the chef is good. They have a full bar with a limited choice of draft beer. We don't play golf but we do enjoy eating here and taking in the view. This restaurant is definitely on our list for the warm month... View all feedback.
It has been a number of years since we last ate here. The last time, the food was not very good. The issue with this restaurant is it is seasonal and that makes it hard to hire and keep good chefs. Some years it is good and other years, not so good. I am happy to report that the OCC restaurant is back with good food and beer this summer. The restaurant itself looks out over the golf course. It is one of the most beautiful settings in Orleans County. We suggest that you sit out on the screen porch facing the golf course. The alternative is to sit inside at the bar area. There are generally plenty of tables available in each area. The bar can get rowdy and noisy with a lot of golfers in it. Today's visit was for lunch. There was a young server and she was very personable and helpful. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich and I had the OCC burger with an upgrade to potato fries. My wife said hers was prepared perfectly. The chicken was tasty and the fries were very good. She thought it could have been better if the chicken had been marinated, or if the server had offered sauces like barbecue sauce. I ordered my burger medium and it came out well done. I like mine well done and I know that most place overcook it. This place did just that and I got exactly what I wanted. We also each had Vermont beer and that was just the right temperature. We are glad this place is back and plan to go back a number of times this summer. You don't need to play golf here to eat here. The restaurant is open to the public.
Great staff, lunch, course, pro shop, food, drinks et al. A classic course with a great clubhouse. Don’t miss this one!
Even one star is TOO much to rof a score for the Orleans Country Club Restaurant during the summer of 2018! It deserves a score SO below acceptable that it should be shut down! Service was beyond horrible! And it was not a busy dining room! Plus, there were 2 waitstaff, a bartender, and a buss girl (whom was much better than either of the two waitstaff)! Luckily, for at least 3 tables around ours, the bartender was willing to help patrons whom left their table to order with her! Our waitress was SO disgusting (using her hand to wipe sweat of her face just before serving our drinks)! Had to ask waitress for silverware, salt and pepper, and napkins after she served meals and asked if anything else was needed! Well, of course a table setting would be appreciated! And, she just overall, had NO ability to be a waitress! I can’t even put words on paper to explain how horrible she was! We had to ask about specials, she verbally out loud had to count from one to 4 to add our table order (2 adults and a child) to her tablet. Then in less than 5 minutes she had to count out loud to 5 to figure out what table was beside ours to place their order. In addition, she walked by our table two times and said, “looks like you are all set (when we had empty drink glasses and napkins on top of our unfinished meals” and went right to another table without stopping to ask if we needed anything! Plus, all meals were cold, so we couldn’t even eat half of each meal, so we all left the restaurant hungry! Menu is only lunch sandwiches. Even in the evening! Table beside ours waited SO long, to order, the man had to leave the table, to go and order at bar! They also had to ask for table setting after their food arrived! Another table, on the other side of ours, had two missing orders (just appetizers) when all meals arrived (lost slip the waitress said). They also went hungry, but they also couldn’t even get the waitress to acknowledge that they needed a drink! Even after waving an empty beer bottle at her! She waved back! What?! So, they left hungry and thirsty! The golf course looked nice, but restaurant was beyond horrible! Tell everyone you know to stay on the golf course, and do not even think about eating at the Orleans Country Club Restaurant! Even when they have a great band playing on a Saturday night, eat elsewhere before you go!
The waitress Desiree Ouellet was the best waitress I have had in a long time.
