I visited Sofia while shopping at 10-30. The service was excellent and the staff were especially great with children and teenagers. The food was delicious, starting from the appetizers to the main course (the fried calamari is a must-try). However, we gave it 4 stars because we felt that the prices were high for the portion sizes. Italian food is known for its generous portions, but unfortunately, we found the portions at Sofia to be lacking in generosity.
If you're looking for delicious and authentic Italian cuisine, this restaurant is a great option! They offer a wonderful selection of classic Italian dishes and appetizers. I highly recommend trying the Gnocchi cacio e pepe, a dish you don't come across often. The only downside is that they only offer bottled water, not tap water. Overall, this restaurant deserves a spot on your list of places to try!
This was my first visit to this restaurant and I absolutely loved it. I have always been a fan of Italian culture, although I am not an expert. The decor was stunning and as soon as I walked in, I was impressed. The large mirrors or windows inside intrigued me throughout my entire experience. The food was incredibly tasty and the friendly server was very understanding. I tried their red sangria and it was the best I've ever had. The only thing missing was complimentary bread on the table, but other than that, I will definitely be returning to this restaurant again and again.
Where to begin? I ordered the macaroni and cheese online for pickup and selected gluten free pasta. I noted on the order gluten free and celiac disease. It was okay but my stomach felt upset. Went here another time to eat in the restaurant and ordered the macaroni and cheese with gluten free pasta but was told there is breadcrumbs in the sauce so it can’t be gluten free? The discrepancies between what the website says and what the server says makes me feel it is not safe for celiacs to eat here. Never mind the fact that the gluten free ravioli is incredibly salty and the service is poor. Would NOT recommend.
We overall enjoyed the food but didn’t think it was worth the prices they have set. For these two aspects of our experience, I would give about 3.8/5. However, I had to give them a 2/5 for 2 reasons: 1. No tap water offered. If you want to drink flat water, you have to order a bottle. The price of the 725ml bottle was 5$, which is not outrageous but I think it’s silly to have to order bottled water when tap water does the work perfectly. No reason was given for why we had to buy bottles to drink water. 2. About 3/4 of the waiters/waitresses were not wearing their masks properly. A lot of them were wearing it very low under their nose which makes it unappetizing to see them breathe through their nose over your plate as they bring the food to the table. Given the prices they set for their food, I would at least expect them to follow the safety rules flawlessly. If they charge high prices, the least they could do is provide service with high standards.
