Saved this gem for our last night in the city. Amazing tasting menu featuring unexpected and superb flavor combinations. Great, personal and friendly service. Picked some of our own small plates and went with staff recommendations for the others and every plate was fantastic. Now I know why this is one of my son's favorite spots. A tasting menu with 10 courses for $56 a person (as of December 2023) is an absolutely unbeatable deal. Traif does that with some absolutely tasty food and cocktails. Definitely go for the tasting menu on your first time around.
Without a doubt, this restaurant offers the best value tasting menu in New York City. The dishes are incredibly flavorful and inventive, and the staff is exceptionally friendly. I give it a perfect 10/10!
I visited this restaurant with a group of seven to celebrate a birthday, and it was fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious; we opted for the tasting menu, and they were very accommodating to one of our group members with allergies. The multiple courses were creative, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. We left feeling extremely satisfied and happy. The service was attentive, the cocktails were excellent, and the wine list offered a great variety at reasonable prices. Honestly, the tasting menu is an incredible deal for the quality and quantity of food you receive. We all enjoyed the family-style presentation, making it a perfect choice for groups. The standout dishes included the snapper fillet in bao buns, duck, tuna tartare, and key lime pie, but everything we tried was wonderful. I highly recommend this place!
And the desserts? They are nothing short of extraordinary! If the cream donuts were a book, they’d be a captivating story that keeps you engaged until the final crumb. Pair your meal with the orange wine, a delightful treat that could even make Bacchus envious, or choose from an exceptional selection of coffee and cream that rivals the vastness of the Library of Congress. The atmosphere? It’s as if you’re dining in Gatsby’s opulent living room, wrapped in a cozy ambiance that feels like a warm embrace. The staff, with smiles so bright you’d think they’ve never seen a gloomy day, gracefully ensure your evening is as smooth as the jazz gently playing in the background. And if you find yourself too stuffed to make the journey home, don’t worry—Traif offers delivery! Whether you’ve just explored the neighborhood or are comfortably settled at home, Traif serves as your culinary genie, granting you delicious wishes. With prices that delight, flavors that entice, and an effortlessly enjoyable experience, Traif is truly a hidden treasure that stands out from the crowd.
My boyfriend and I discovered Traif thanks to a viral TikTok showcasing their 10-course chef tasting, and it lived up to every bit of the hype. The $56 per person cost is worth every penny. The ten courses (sometimes more! are served tapas-style, perfect for sharing among your group. The variety is astounding, presented beautifully on decorative plates that invite you to savor each dish. We left feeling satisfied and genuinely full—a rarity with tasting menus. The staff was exceptional, adding to the overall experience. Our final bill, around $180 for the chef's tasting for two, two cocktails, and a 20 percent service charge for the staff, felt reasonable for what we received. Opting for the chef's selection was a great move; the food was imaginative and delicious. Honestly, the only regret I have is not capturing more photos—each dish was so captivating that I couldn't resist diving right in. Highly recommend Traif for your next night out.

Loved the tasting menu... 10 dishes for $55/per person.Great variety of flavors, the gnocchi was outstanding as well as the tuna tartare. The pork ribs with the cinnamon glaze were surprisingly delicious as well.
We did the prix fixe. It was nice being surprised by the chef's choice. Would absolutely do again. The only thing the pork was over cooked for our taste, It could have needed less time on the grill. We ordered a bottle of red wine and it pair well with every dish. Desserts were perfect, not overly sweet. I look forward to coming again and seeing what else they have to offer.
There is too much selection of dishes. We took the chef selection. In general food is good. Service is great. Atmosphere is nice. Most food are a little bit to the sweet side. Like the pineapple shrimp. Pork ribs. Scallops risotto is a little too soft. Personally I like something less sweet. Overall it is a good bargain for the price to have so much food to try.
This place truly exceeded our expectations! We enjoyed an incredible 8-course tasting menu with two delightful desserts for just $56. The scallops and fish dishes were exceptional, while the pork was the only dish that didn't quite stand out. Despite the visually small portions, we were pleasantly surprised to leave feeling full. The cocktails were not only delicious but also reasonably priced. In a generous gesture, they even offered us a complimentary replacement for a cocktail we didn't enjoy. The charming backyard with a grapevine was such a nice vibe.
4.5 to be exact. Went to their sister restaurant last year. I think Traif beat Xixa lol. Most of the dishes were pretty tasty. A bit too heavy on the latter ones. My favorite of the night was their burrata. All the flavors and textures were dancing in my mouth. It's definitely the best value course meal I ever had. Wish they had better ventilation in the restaurant. I came out smelled like I just had k bbq.

An amazing array of flavors! We chose the chef's selection for $55 per person, which was a fantastic way to sample a variety of dishes from the menu. The scallops and an outstanding salad stood out, but the truffle cacio e pepe was truly phenomenal. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was great, although it did become a bit noisy later in the evening. So, if you're seeking a quiet setting, this might not be the best choice.
The tasting menu was amazing! At $75 per person after tax tip, it’s also a steal. The salmon on fried eggplant was incredible.
Fantastic lowkey spot in Brooklyn. We did the Chef’s special, $55/per person and you get about 10 small courses so that you can try several different menu items. Salad, appetizers, beef, chicken and seafood were amongst them along with dessert. Decent cocktail and wine selection too. Great service. We arrived about 30 minutes early for our reservation but they still accommodated us. Proof of vaccination required.
My best dinning experience in New York! It was our anniversary and the staff were really nice. Not to mention the food itself, out of expectation, we had the tasting menu and came up 11 courses, from entree to main to dessert, my favorite was scallops and foie gras, others are delicious as well, I think all their foods worth to try: would come again if I come to NY next time.
Oh my goodness! Small plates that pack a punch! We each got the Chef's Tasting Menu which was 8 10 dishes plus dessert $60ish pp? Each plate was made for 4 since there was 4 of us and they usually came out 2 at a time. By the time dessert came we were stuffed so come hungry. Literally every dish was perfection. I love to cook and when I find a restaurant where dishes come out and I don't know how to reverse engineer to make it at home I have found heaven! Thinking about the combination of flavors that they put together makes my mouth water all over again.
