Prompt service and high-quality food! We ordered the traditional platter, which was just right for the three of us, and we also sampled the miso soup, which was delicious. Everything was served incredibly quickly, which pleasantly surprised us! The atmosphere was wonderful, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely be back!
Trad Room has been our favorite spot for date nights for about two years! The food is amazing—make sure to try the Nanban chicken, the spicy salmon bowl (it's off the menu now, but they’ve made it for me every time I’ve asked), and the STA bowl. The atmosphere is wonderful as well. You can opt to dress up if you want, but you can also keep it casual and still feel comfortable. The only downside is that the tables are fairly close together, but if you're like me and enjoy listening in on conversations, it can actually be quite entertaining (it's a popular place for first dates, and we've heard some interesting chats). Their cocktails are also really fun. Overall, it's a fantastic neighborhood choice for a date night!
Overall, the staff was friendly and pleasant, except for one person: the hostess. She didn't seem very welcoming, which was disappointing since she’s the first point of contact for customers. If I hadn't been so hungry and eager to give the restaurant another chance, I might have chosen to leave. I returned this week after a year away, and while I’m not sure if it was due to the bartender being on the phone, he came off as quite rude and hurried me along. When I asked for recommendations, he seemed annoyed and provided a rather unenthusiastic response. To make matters worse, he handed me my check before I had even finished my meal. Plus, I ordered a medium-well burger, but it arrived quite undercooked, which I only discovered after getting home. I think I’ve had enough of this place.
The main attraction of Trad Room is its ambiance—the dim, sultry lighting sets an ideal scene for a date. However, the menu is trying to do too much by featuring an array of options, including sushi, burgers, and salmon carpaccio, all in one place. Consequently, it falls into the common trap of being average across the board rather than excelling in a few signature dishes.
This restaurant was quite busy on a Sunday evening, which proved to be a fantastic sign of its quality! We ordered a variety of appetizers and rolls, and everything was exceptional—high-quality and delicious. A standout was the remarkable freshness of the fish in the rolls. I must highlight the Karaage fried chicken, the pork belly, the crispy spicy tuna roll, and the yellowtail tuna scallion roll. Our satisfying dinner for two came to $82 (not including tip). I can't wait to go back, and if you haven't been to this place yet, you definitely should!
