The Ryerson in Crown Heights offers a vibrant atmosphere suited for casual gatherings. Guests appreciate the decor and outdoor space, but opinions on the food and service vary widely. While some rave about delectable options like the burgers and Bourbon Smash, others find the fried chicken rubbery and the fish fritters stale. Service experiences are inconsistent, with some patrons feeling dismissed by staff. However, commendable service during special events stands out. Despite a few culinary missteps, the restaurant remains a popular spot for cocktails and casual dining, making it worth a try for local foodies.

Nice decor and easy vibes. They have a back yard that's very pretty. The food was decent. First time the food was salty so the second time I went I made sure to ask that they don't prepare my food with too much salt, they did as requested. Perfect location to catch up with friends. Not noisy and easily accessible by public transportation (A/C train to Nostrand Ave). Sorry, I didn't take a photo.

Food (deviled eggs, buffalo wings, fish fritters, shrimp skewers, fried chicken and mashed potatoes) was decent, except the fish fritters which were dry , hard and tasted stale. This rating is primarily based on service. The staff, especially the tall, white, male bartender who also doubled as a server on Friday night (7/1), here seems to have an issue with people of color. After my partner and I had 2 rounds of drinks, he began to glare at us from the bar, came over and asked if we were ready for the check. We said no and proceeded to order a third round, which he brought to our table. My partner asked if there was a problem because of his glares and asking if we were ready for the check. His response was he wanted to make sure we could stand up and weren't driving. We told him we weren't driving and could stand just fine. Not sure why he thought it appropriate to ask two black professional women, born and bred in Brooklyn for 55 years, those questions, since we were not intoxicated and were merely laughing and having a good time as we do, 3-4 times a week when we dine out, including at some of the best steakhouses in NY (Old Homestead, The Palm, Peter Luger's, etc). Not to worry! This was our first and last visit. We'll be sure to let our friends know as well. Will continue to frequent Super Power and Nostrand Pub, which we LOVE for drinks. Actually, we left and went to Nostrand Pub for the first time. Sandro, the bartender there, was great!!!! Take a page out of his book as well as Dave and the rest of the Team at Super Power. Also, don't come to Brooklyn and treat us like we don't belong. How dare you ???? And did I mention, he pretty much cut me off because my third drink was watered down. So I promptly returned it, asked for our check, and left.

My mom brought me and my sister here for Mother's Day. The staff was very nice. The food was just ok. Some dishes stood out, like the cornbread. Super moist and savory sweet. The eggs were eggs, nothing special. The potatoes were a bit burnt and lacked seasoning. At least some salt would have been nice.

The chicken thigh was surprisingly small, barely larger than the biscuit it was served with. The plastic ramekins holding the sauce felt generic and uninviting. Service was average, though our server seemed quite anxious. Overall, it was not a great experience. The food showed promise but was poorly prepared, leading to a letdown of a meal.

One of my friends arranged a casual proposal for his now fiancée, and the Ryerson team was incredibly helpful in ensuring everything went off without a hitch. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious!
