I absolutely love this place! Our waitress was incredibly nice, and the hostess was great as well. The experience was definitely worth the wait for a reservation. The eggplant and yogurt dip was a standout – we're not usually fans of eggplant, but this was delicious! The feta flatbread was good, but I wouldn't say it's a must-try. We ordered the half hen and the ribeye kebab, and the ribeye was, without a doubt, the... View all feedback.
What Jaye Aster Broder doesn't like about Sofreh:
One of the hottest restaurants in Brooklyn, and we got a reservation. I thought maybe my expectation was too hight, but everyone was not too impressed. I had much better Persian Iranian food. There was certainly something wrong with the service. They looked like they just had a big fight. This affected our dinner experience. If you really want to try it, I’d recommend the lamb shank. The lebanese wine is really good,... View all feedback.
This is more of an upscale restaurant aesthics inside remind me a fancy cave like atmosphere. Absolutely love. Service is five star, hostess's and servers alike. The food is very tasty. Eggplant dip and yogurt dip for apps fresh. I got the lamb shank which was fall off the bone good. The chicken with pomegranate was my fave dish. Place is on the more expensive side so this would be a place for a special occasion.
Loved everything here! We sat in the garden in the back. Food was delicious highly recommend the date salad, eggplant dip, saffron rice, roasted cauliflower, lamb shank and duck!! Cocktails were amazing too and the staff were attentive and thoughtful. Will come back soon.
Elevated Persian cuisine with bold and well balanced, but not overcomplicated, flavors. Highly recommend all the appetizers for sharing, including the yogurt dip, the eggplant dip, and the salad with tahini and dates. Save room for dessert and order the tradition Persian ice cream with saffron, rose water and pistachio. The dishes are well portioned perfect for sharing. Plus leek decor, lively ambience and a lovely backyard.
Lovely experience at Sofreh. Persian food in a modern setting! Some of the dishes were underwhelming but overall very happy we gave it a shot. Do not expect a traditional Iranian restaurant simply because that?s not what they?re going for. Dishes and drinks have so many Persian elements but they are not your grandma?s recipe. Whatever you order don?t miss the lamb shank! Sweet sour meatball and their bread are top notch! I wish Aash/noodle stew was more thoroughly cooked.
What an experience! After being warmly greeted by the owner and her brother, we were seated in a lovely back garden. We were a little nonplussed when someone was seated right next to us, despite there being plenty of other tables?but they soon got cold and went inside. (There are space heaters but they weren?t enough for these folks). We started with cocktails, had lots of appetizers, and then the waiter steered us to the steak main course. Everything was delicious. The steak was steakhouse quality but accented with Persian flavors. The salad was surprisingly spicy. The eggplant dip was to die for. And the dessert was delicious. Highly recommended.
