Reviews summary

Runner Stone is a cafe and bakery in Gowanus that offers a variety of snacks, drinks, and baked goods. With a slightly confusing menu and inconsistent quality, guests found some items to be overpriced and under-seasoned. However, the bread and desserts were highlights, while the ambiance was decent and wait staff were friendly. Despite some mixed reviews on the food and service, overall, Runner Stone seems to be a popular spot for visitors to enjoy a meal or snack in a relaxed atmosphere.

What DDE Edwards dislikes about Runner & Stone:

Absolutely horrible! Had to flag down a waiter to get a menu. Ordered ribs which came with coleslaw and cornbread. Coleslaw came out after my meal in a ice cream bowl I had to ask for her it. Waiter asked me does coleslaw come with it! Ribs were cold, cornbread came straight out the fridge. What a mess! View all feedback.

What a cute place! The service and food were top notch! I met some friends for dinner and there was a great selection of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options in addition to meat dishes. I had the chickpea gemelli pasta with mushroom bolognese. It was a large portion, which was so good I ate the whole thing. I don't eat meat, but my friend said the burger was one of the best they've ever had. To finish, we shared a beautiful cobbler. Highly recommend this place to catch up with friends or have a cute date night. The restaurant has a pleasant ambiance and unique decorations. The service is excellent. The pretzel was a little dry. The arancini was tasty but a bit heavy.

Wow the food and service are incredible. The bread is artisanal. Such a gem in Brooklyn. Highly highly recommend. Incredible wine list too! And they have a garden where they grow their own vegetables and flowers!Food: 5/5

Sometimes it’s nice to find a beautiful eating/cafe experience in an industrial chic artisan and down to earth location such as Gowanus in Brooklyn … and Runner and Stone is such an experience. The food and ambience is pure art and simply DELICIOUS. My friend and I meandered over on a sunny late morning and stepped into a gourmet heaven. There’s a sandwich menu on the wall with lovely choices, a bar with pastries and various food items. There’s bread, coffee, coolers with salads and drinks … wine for sale … tables here and there. (Yes it is humane and there is a restroom). We were there for a quick lunch and chat and it was lovely seeing a steady stream of people getting items to go and shopping for gourmet grocery items. It seems like it has dinner too and would definitely like to try that real soon!Thank you Runner and Stone.

We were seated in the lower level which had a great atmosphere. Our waiter answered all of our questions since it was our first visit to the restaurant. They will also accommodate customers with dietary restrictions. The hummus appetizer as well as the Brussels sprouts were delicious. I had the Chickpea Lumache dish and absolutely loved it. I cannot wait to go back.

Grabbed some coffee and snacks from Runner Stone on Saturday morning. An odd spot that needs more direction and simplification.Quality: It is a bit confusing as to what Runner Stone wants to be. Several guests in line were attempting to order things they saw online that don't exist. Each menu in the place also seemed to have a different set of items listed. In the end I ordered what I could point to. My Latte was fine and pretty affordable. I had two snacks a Cheddar And Olive Pastry and an Almond Croissant. Again both fine, the Almond Croissant was a bit better than the savory option. Neither however would have me running back.Quantity: Standard size drinks and snacks.Value: $4 for a Latte. $4-$7 for Pastries.Ambiance: Runner Stone is a cafe and bakery in Gowanus. I think it has had many different iterations from before COVID to now, but has settled into a coffee shop and bakery format. They have a large ordering counter, which seems too big for the space. A few tables near the front window, high-tops along the left wall, and a more tables towards the back provide just enough seating for the few guests that stay. The space is dim and not ideal for working or reading.Crowd: A line formed, but it was mostly because of the speed of service. Drinks took a long time and there was not even offers to warm up pastries.Service: Friendly to a fault, spent a lot of time chatting with customers and the line started to go out the door.Parking: A decent area to find a spot.

I love their baguettes and pastries! I tried the seasonal danish and it was so flakey and delicious. Good bread places are hard to find. Their coffee is pretty good too. I got there too early for the lunch menu, but will definitely be back to try them next time.

The sandwiches here are insanely good. Best tuna melt I have had in my life. I don't know how much business they get in their location but it is not enough for the quality of the food.

Great food. Pleasant service. Vegan and vegetarian options. Homemade breads. I had a burger after I ran the NYC Half. Both the race and the burger were wonderful.

We love Runner Stone. Their Chocolate Almond Croissant is hands down, without question the undisputed and best Chocolate Almond Croissant I have ever had and is my go-to weekend must-have indulgence. It's hard to put into words just how lush this is but the team have combined the best of a timeless Pain au chocolat, mixed it with an Almond Croissant classic and created one of the most iconic pieces of baked goods in Brooklyn history. Only a handful are made each day so go early to avoid disappointment (but not too early that I miss out on mine! . This is one pastry you have to try.

The concise menu offers a great deal of variety for diners. We were five persons and ordered most of the dishes on the menu all were executed very well and tasted great. The small wine list is carefully chosen and fairly priced. Our server was outstanding, we enjoyed his expert advice, easy bantering, and excellent service. Needless to say, having a fine bakery on the premises is another great dining plus. A place to return.

Very surprised to learn that Runner Stone has been right under our nose for a few years, particularly since Park Slope 'dining ' has fallen to newer lows with very very few 'go tos ' or 'new interesting '. while Gowanus is bursting at the seams with new attractive additions ones that you 'd go back to, etc. Relative to places to dine in the 'Slope ', Runner Stone would be best by a long shot. Very warm and friendly atmosphere. we will be back.
