I went to this restaurant yesterday and had an excellent experience. The food was fresh and tasted great. My friend Crystal Ann and I shared the chicken leg dish and we both enjoyed it. View all feedback.
What josh b doesn't like about Purbird:
It could be one of those places that 's better if you 're a regular and know things work, so you don 't get tripped up by the fact the breast and thigh combo is actually breast OR thing. The half chicken seems like far less than half, and $35 including tax for the combo with spinach and jalapeno mac-and-cheese plus water seemed high. However, the chicken preparation was good, with great skin texture and a bit of smoki... If you haven't had a spicy chicken sandwich at Purbird this summer, what are you doing? The food is as fresh as can be and cooked to order. Be sure to grab a side of the spicy sauce for your fries. My reccs are the spicy chicken sandwich, jalepeno mac mac and cheese, and the mashed potatoes. You really can't go wrong if you get all 3 (you'll just be stuffed). You may pay a few bucks extra than what you expected, but it really doesn't bother me as I know it's quality food. I never feel weighed down after eating here. You get what you pay for. Great and consistent staff. Always friendly and knowledgeable. A staple in Park Slope. Don't miss out!
Purbird Ratings: 4.4/5 Food: 4.25/5 First time ordering flame grilled chicken from here, and it exceeded my expectations. The chicken breast and thigh was grilled to perfection, juicy and tender with the perfect amount of charred. Delicious food and sides. Also, I recommend the roasted broccoli and the jalapeño mash. Those two are a must, especially the broccoli. High quality ingredients and tasted refreshing and light. It's roasted in olive oil and with a hint of salt and pepper. The jalapeño mash is good, but thought it was a bit overhyped; the broccoli was way better. I finished the whole lunch special and did not feel greased out. Feel full and satisfied with the quantity. Ambiance: 4.25/5 Little family owned restaurant located in downtown, Brooklyn. It is at the corner of 6th ave, so not hard to miss it. Indoor is closed for dining in, but an option to dine outside, and it is still well kept and clean. The menu written on top of the counter was easy to read and clear. They also have an online website to place order, so I encourage you all to just order online through their website to help them save them save some fees from other take out apps like Uber, Grubhub, etc. Price: 4.25/5 We got the lunch special for $16 each before tips and tax. It comes with a half flame grilled chicken with a choice of any potatoes and any choice of vegetables and a sauce. The portion is huge and will definitely fill you up, good value. Service: 4.75/5 The server was super kind, friendly, and personable. The service was quick and food came out fairly quickly. Our server was quite attentive and helped us set up our outdoor tables and chairs for outdoor dining. It is hot though, so be prepared. BLUF: A hidden gem in downtown, Brooklyn. I cannot wait for another visit here, it's worth of returning especially for their chicken sandwich and/or wrap. My friend also enjoyed the meal too, so we both recommend this place for sure!
However, the chicken preparation was good, with great skin texture and a bit of smokiness. And the mac-and-cheese had an impressive crust. And while the chicken wasn 't so large the sides were massive. Try the green sauce.
After a long walk in prospect park and a trip to the brooklyn library, I figured why not head to Purbid for some chicken since my mom has always recommended it. First things first, there not much seating but not many people were there, I assume most of their customers order delivery and takeout which is what I did. They have a pretty simple menu and I chose to order a half chicken which came with Pita and Mac Cheese. It took about 15 minutes to cook my order and I was out of the door. It was still hot when I got home and I was excited to finally try it. The chicken is juicy and had a crispy grilled skin. I also had their chipotle sauce which I used to make a sandwich with the chicken and the Pita. When I opened the Mac and cheese I was not expected that much. It was tasty but I felt like need a bit more cheesy flavor. It kind of tasted like it was a condensed milk with minimal cheese vibes. Overall a good meal, I was stuffed so I had to save some for later on. I will be back
I was craving some flamed grilled chicken and this is the only place in Brooklyn that I know of that does it RIGHT. The menu selection is great, you can choose from salads, soups, sandwiches and just plain ole delicious flame grilled chicken. I've been coming here for years and they never disappoint. Chicken 10/10 so tender and juicy, you can tell it's been brined for hours. Chicken breast sandwich 10/10 came with a few pieces of grilled chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, cheese (extra$ , and turkey bacon. I could eat one a day. One bite and the juices come right out! Tip: it's best to use some of the bun to sop up all the goodness. Broccoli 10/10 Just crunchy, lemony, deliciousness Mashed potatoes 10/10 GET IT The only downfall is that price of their extra sauces.. they are all so delicious but I cannot justify playing $2 for one small sauce.
