Hands down THE WORST pasteles I have tasted in my 40+ years on this planet. Choked them down because I didn’t wanna waste my money. If you want good pasteles try Los Primos on Grand street. The waitresses are very rude and nasty, they’ll talk shit in your face thinking you don’t speak Spanish but at least the food is edible.

Food looked good so I ordered Pickup on Grubhub. When I showed up they first tried to say I had ordered from a different store, then that machine broken and that I would have to call Grubhub to get the order refunded. Understandable, but if the machinewas broken why did they waste my time indicating that they were preparing my order and that it was ready?

La Isla is a no-frills comfort food restaurant which serves up a variety of filling Dominican dishes. there are seats at the counter bar, but no tables. there?s a menu taped to the wall that might be hard to decipher?best to just ask what you want andhow much it is. the interior is old school and worn-in. very much old NYC and a bit more gritty than super polished. a menu ofmeats (Pernil, roasted chicken, chicken stew and more) rice beans platters. there are mofongos to choose from, too. thereare smaller bites if you want a quick to-go like Pastelito. got Papas Rellenas to go and they were tasty and hit the spot as iwanted something savory and full of carbs. the deep-fried potato ball is served warm ?it is stuffed with seasoned ground beef.so good. the potato ball is a nice size and perfect amount of snack for walking. staff is friendly enough, but this is not fastfood or fine dining. things operate at their own pace.

The service is consistently terrible, without fail. It seems like the staff completely overlooks you. If you're looking to keep your spirits up, I suggest steering clear of this restaurant.
