What Lex Rios dislikes about Ho'brah:
Ordered from this restaurant a little over a month ago and they hit it out the park! Tonight the kitchen staff must be different as we received deep fried Birria Tacos and Burnt Quesadilla with very little portions of meat, To top it all off our drinks weren’t delivered. Hoping this changes when dining in, but definitely avoiding ordering take out. View all feedback.
The service was friendly, and the food was excellent. I'm familiar with the Forest Avenue location in Staten Island, and I can say that the Korean BBQ tacos are just as delicious and consistent as those on Staten Island. The churros were also fresh and tasty. Definitely worth a visit!
This is a fantastic taco spot that I’ve visited many times, and I've never been let down. The tacos are outstanding, and the service is equally impressive. Consuela’s pork empanadas are delicious, and honestly, all of their empanadas are great. They also serve an excellent Margarita. The restaurant is kid-friendly, featuring a children’s menu, which is a nice touch. It's a small place that fills up quickly, so keep that in mind if you plan to go. Just note that there’s a bar adjacent to many of the tables, which can make it a bit loud, especially after 6 PM. However, between lunch and around 4 PM, it’s usually quite calm and you won’t have to wait for a table. The restaurant leans more towards California-style rather than traditional Mexican, but the menu is diverse and very reasonably priced. Overall, it’s a great spot for families!
I had one of the worst dining experiences I've ever encountered. The food was terrible and felt like a case of cultural appropriation. Just look at the nachos:
My partner and I stopped by mid-morning on a Friday and were pleasantly surprised to find the place nearly empty, with only a friendly bartender in sight. We decided to try the calamari and two tacos – the Korean BBQ and Captain Jack. It’s always a treat when calamari, a dish that’s one of the most common appetizers out there, is served with a special twist: zesty lime-soaked red onions, charred corn, and a rich, spicy chipotle mayo. We enjoyed our tacos as well, which were a bit on the expensive side, but we had no complaints. It’s easy to see why Ho’Brah is a local favorite; if you’re looking for a brunch snack or just a place to relax, this is it. The only thing missing is a view of the ocean.
