Description

Diners have reported a series of frustrations at this New York City restaurant, primarily due to unwelcoming staff and inadequate service. Visitors noted issues with food hygiene and negative attitudes toward customers, particularly people of color. While some dishes, like the garlic sauce and La Chica cocktail, received praise for their flavors, many patrons complained about dry or poorly prepared items, such as chicken and rice. Despite a few highlights, the overall experience appears marred by service shortcomings and inconsistencies in food quality, making it hard to recommend for a family outing.

I ordered the lamb in garlic sauce through Uber Eats, but I was disappointed with what I received. However, the garlic sauce was delicious, so I’ve added an extra star for that!

I visited this restaurant last week, and unfortunately, the food presentation did not meet my expectations. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a shot and ordered the jerk chicken and pork chops. The pork chop was well-cut, about an inch and a half thick, which is uncommon at local eateries. However, when I tasted the chicken, it tasted as if someone had mistakenly used sugar instead of salt. The pork chop was exceedingly tough; I couldn't manage to take a proper bite, and the flavor was quite unpleasant. I ultimately ended up throwing the entire meal away, which felt like a waste of $18. I would recommend steering clear of this place.

As soon as I stepped inside, the aroma was delightful. I ordered the Pollo Guisado, and it was absolutely delicious. Each chef adds their own touch, but I really love the way they prepare it here. The flavors were fantastic, the chicken was tender, and the rice and beans were just perfect. The plantains were sweet and delicious too.

Terrible food. I told the server the avocado was black, but instead of replacing it, he said all avocado salads turn brown when exposed to air. There was no apology or offer to fix it, like adding lemon or lime to preserve the color. The cilantro rice had a horrible flavor and was drenched in oil—not good quality oil. I’m a chef and know my flavors—avoid this dish. The chicken was dry and burnt in some spots. Overall, really bad food. On the plus side, the French fries had great flavor and texture. The baked potato was dry with no sauce, butter, or cream. The La Chica cocktail was absolutely amazing—I highly recommend it. It could use just a little more liquor, but the flavor was fantastic.

The staff at the front do not wash their hands or wear gloves. Furthermore, I noticed a negative attitude towards people of color. Additionally, the food was quite dry.
