Description

A bustling, family-run Ukrainian café on Sheepshead Bay serves house-made pastries, sandwiches, soups and salads in a cozy, recently expanded space with ample indoor and outdoor seating. Pastries and savory plates are typically excellent and affordable, while coffee quality can be hit-or-miss depending on the barista. Staff are mostly warm though service is occasionally uneven and payment policies (cash preference/minimum card rule) and outdated posted hours have frustrated patrons. A popular local spot for quick breakfasts and lingering bites.

I work nearby, so visit this place often. Their pastry is giving me a nice Ukrainian grandma vibe, loooooove it! Coffee is good, especially when it’s made by the young blond girl. Not sure what her name is, but thank you for one of the best cappuccinos I’ve ever had

Amazing place for coffee, desserts, sandwiches and soup! CASH ONLY. BRING CASH. The staff are nice and they are efficient.

The coffee is delicious, and the food is delightful! This charming local family-owned shop can get quite busy, but the wait is definitely worth it. I highly recommend this spot! All the food and baked goods are made on-site, and the atmosphere is very cozy.

Oh dear… I've gotten somewhat used to the rudeness of the staff here, as they continue speaking in Russian even when I'm trying to communicate in English. However, I keep returning because the food is relatively good compared to other places in the area. Today, I ordered takeout and, after paying for my meal, they called to inform me that one of the items I requested was unavailable. They offered alternatives, which I declined. When I arrived in person, they tried to persuade me to take coffee or other desserts, but I firmly insisted on just getting a refund for the difference. The waitress rolled her eyes in surprise and asked if I really wanted a refund, to which I replied that I did. She handed me $5 from the register, even though the amount should have been different. However, since it wasn't a significant difference, I accepted it. What bothers me is how this situation arose from nothing and how uncomfortable they make you feel for asking for a refund for food that they can’t provide. You really need to improve your service and stop giving attitude when customers make requests.

It used to be a pleasant place, but now the coffee tastes like it came from a gas station. The selection of pastries is quite limited, and the service leaves much to be desired.
