Chveni Cafe - Brooklyn

I was very disappointed because all of the famous dishes were unavailable! I would have expected that the most popular dishes would be available all day. In particular, Hong Kongers enjoy afternoon tea at 3:15pm. It was surprising to me that dishes like rice noodle rolls, stuffed fish paste with three style veggies, boneless dark meat Hainan chicken, and HK style French toast were all unavailable. It seems unbelievable that none of these dishes were left by 3 PM. I suggest calling ahead next time if you are craving these famous dishes from Hong Kong.

I enjoyed the unique atmosphere of this restaurant, but the table arrangement could be improved as there were unused monitors placed near where customers dine. The food was average and may have been subpar compared to other establishments serving Hong Kong style cuisine on 86th street in Brooklyn, as many dishes lacked flavor. The service was very efficient and the staff were friendly.

Decent and reasonably priced Hong Kong cafe food. While it may not be the absolute best, I did enjoy their baked rice and cheong fun. The curry brisket was surprisingly tender as well. The only downside was the drinks. I ordered a honey lemon tea and Hong Kong style milk tea. The honey lemon tea was diluted with too much raw honey and lacking in lemon flavor. The milk tea had an excessive amount of milk and lacked tea flavor. However, their $2 drinks are much cheaper than other places. Be sure to arrive early on weekends to secure a table, as it can get quite crowded during lunchtime.

OMG, this is the BEST Hong Kong cafe in town!! I have been there three times so far and had great experience every time. All the dishes I ordered taste different but better than other Hong Kong restaurants. Highly recommend!!!
