Cathy's Place - Brooklyn
Cathy's Place
Description
In a beloved Brooklyn diner, opinions sharply diverge. While some patrons fondly recall its rich history and rave about the breakfast options, including pancakes and turkey sausages, others express deep dissatisfaction, citing poor service and rude staff. Many have encountered unappetizing meals, stale bagels, and troubling allegations regarding the demeanor of the counter staff. Despite the mixed reviews, the eatery remains a nostalgic destination for some, especially those who appreciate hearty American fare and generous portions. However, patrons advise potential diners to approach with caution, as experiences can range dramatically from delightful to disheartening.

Omelette was cooked until rock hard. Bagels were stale. The lady talking orders was incredibly rude and appeared to be on drugs (sleeping on the counter and slurring words). She also changed the prices arbitrarily when giving the bill, essentially tried to double my bill. I didn't pay it because that's a scam and a half. Don't go here. Not sure how they are allowed to stay in business.
The food at this restaurant is outstanding. We dined here two days in a row and also tried a few other restaurants nearby, but this diner was definitely the best. I would rate the food a 5 out of 5.
I have been a customer at this wonderful local cafe since the 90s when it was known as Cathy's Place. The menu offers a great selection of American fare and the staff is friendly. It is a great spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with hearty sandwiches, burgers, and delicious dinner specials. The London Broil is particularly outstanding. Overall, it is a fantastic place for a straightforward and delicious dining experience!
This place must be an old Brooklyn staple but there's no way I would ever eat there again. The service was terrible for an empty diner. Food service took over 20 minutes and there were no other patrons. I ordered a simple for sure meal(cheeseburger deluxe) and it was a No way... Hard pass on this placeFood: 1/5
