Recently awarded an NYC 2018 Michelin Bib Gourmand, we invite you to make a reservation for indoor seating. Outdoor seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. At Alta Calidad, diners experience a mixed bag of culinary delights and disappointments. Alta Calidad is without a doubt one of my favorite Mexican restaurant experiences in NYC. At first, I thought the place was unassuming and lacked ambiance, but the margarita quickly changed my mind. The food was delicious overall, with the shrimp tempura tacos standing out as the highlight of the meal. They were simply divine. Although the guacamole, salsa chips, and dessert didn't quite reach the same level, they were still very good. Great job!
The food was pretty good. Highly recommend doing a reservation b/c it was extremely busy. Outside of a broken dish that they shouldn?t have served food in, it was a great time. The Spicy pineapple margarita was good too.
The yuca tots were amazing and the service was fantastic. Everything else was just okay. The outdoor seating was not very exciting and my beef brisket taco was a bit dry. It was my friend's birthday and when I made a reservation online, I requested a birthday dessert. I was hoping it would be complimentary since it was her special day, but they charged me full price for it. Overall, it wasn't a major issue, but it would have been a nice touch.
