**Backyard BBQ: A Mixed Grill of Experiences** Nestled in Brooking, Backyard BBQ has become a hub for barbecue lovers, though diners report a spectrum of experiences. With recommendations highlighting standout dishes like the brisket sandwich and ribs, many appreciate the flavors. However, others describe a disconnect in service and atmosphere, noting a lack of vibrancy and cleanliness issues. While some rave about friendly staff and excellent food, others lament prepackaged sides and unsatisfactory service. With a menu that includes options from BBQ spaghetti to catfish, visitors find potential in this eatery, though consistency remains key to ensuring a memorable dining experience.

This is for the Brookings location. It's not the best BBQ I've ever had. It's probably the worst. But BBQ is like pizza, even when it's bad, it's good. Or it's at least ok and satisfies the craving. This is the fastest and easiest place in town for BBQ so I accept that it's not great. However, the customer service has gone downhill. The older couple who run the joint are not friendly at all. I'll sacrifice quality or I'll sacrifice customer service. But when a place has neither, it's time to stop going. Bye Bye Backyard Grill.

Best BBQ in town, hands down! I got the combo ribs and pulled pork and will definitely be going back!

Best BBQ in SD I've found so far. Restaurant is clean and comfortable, staff was friendly. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich plate. Decent flavor on the meat and you control your amount of sauce with bottles on the table. Their pickles paired perfectly (not out of the jar pickles either). My only note would have been to keep the cornbread rolls warmer (but alas, you run the risk of drying them out if you do that).

Decent food. Was better but has gone down hill recently. Boneless wings used to be a good chunk of chicken. Now they are coated in breading. DO NOT come here close to closing time. We came here on a Saturday. They close at 2:00PM and reopen at 4:00PM.Walked in at 1:55PM and they made us feel guilty for even walking through the door. We ordered our food to go. While theyprepared our food, we brought our 2 little girls (who can?t walk yet) back to our vehicle. When I tried to go back in the storethey had locked the doors behind us. Had to wait 10 minutes for them to realize we were standing outside waiting to go back infor our food. Most places that serve food do not rush their customers out the door.

I eat here a lot and I only order ribs. The ribs are almost always pretty awesome. It's a dry rub with the perfect amount of of toughness and tenderness imo. Always eat without sauce. They do have an amazing bourbon sauce which I'd say is the best I've hadin my travels. I just put the sauce with the fries. The fries are ok'ish. A bit too salty and a little greasy.
