I'm from Texas, where we take our Tex-Mex seriously. Now that I live in New York, I'm cautious about trying new places because I know the cooking here often doesn't compare. I recently ordered two servings of steak tacos from a restaurant with great reviews, thinking they would be delicious. Unfortunately, these were possibly the worst tacos I've ever had in NYC! The Carnitas con Rajas were outstanding! The roasted pork paired beautifully with the rajas and the green sauce, which I believe was cilantro-based. The corn tortillas were fresh and delicious as well. Plus, the portions were quite generous. Yum!
This is my favorite place! I usually order from there 1-2 times a week. The flavor is always reliable, and the portion sizes are reasonable. Prices have increased a bit lately, but that's the case everywhere. Overall, it's a great value and the food is delicious!

Don't let the charming decor deceive you; this place does not serve authentic Mexican food. The dishes taste like they've been reheated and have a freezer-burned flavor. The waitstaff is inattentive and seems uninterested in providing good service. I was surprised to find cheddar jack cheese in the burrito and peas and carrots mixed in with the rice and black beans.
