Mamataco - Broad Channel

According to Time, the restaurant closes at 1 am. However, when I arrived around 10:50 pm, they were already closed.

There was a bit of a wait for a server to take our orders, about 30 minutes before we were attended to. The appetizers (guac and chips) took an additional 25 minutes to come out, even though the place wasn't very crowded - perhaps they were short-staffed. However, our server was very polite and attentive. The entrees arrived about 25 minutes after the appetizers. The atmosphere of the restaurant is laid-back and cozy, with Bad Bunny music playing exclusively. It's the perfect setting for a date night or small group outing. If you find yourself in Inwood or Dykman, you definitely need to check this place out. It's one of the best Mexican spots in NYC.

This was my first time at Mama Taco and I must say the service was excellent. I had been looking up different Mexican food restaurants and stumbled upon this one. When I arrived, there was only one other couple dining inside, but by the time I left around 10pm, more people had arrived to eat. I ordered the steak burrito bowl and a steak burrito, but unfortunately our waitress Citlalin informed us that they were out of guacamole, which was disappointing as it is my favorite thing to have with Mexican food. I suggested to Citlalin that they should go to the market to get avocados to make the guacamole since it is a staple in many of the dishes on the menu. She said she would see what she could do. When she returned, she told us that they were making it. This showed excellent customer service and teamwork. Citlalin made sure all of our needs were met while providing great service. I would suggest adding more spices to the rice, as it was the only negative aspect of my meal. It was too crunchy, almost like boxed rice, and I would have preferred it less crunchy. Additionally, the popcorn was stale and not fresh. These improvements would make my experience as a future customer even better.

This place is amazing, Dariel was so kind and friendly, it has really nice environment, coolmusic, delicious food and drinks!! This is an excellent place to spend time with friends, family and coworkers!! I recommended 100
