Honestly one of my favorite restaurants in New York, if only because I know of anywhere else to get authentic svickova and budvar for reasonable prices. Also, fried cheese! Reminds me of my time in Prague. The dining room is fairly big with a small bar, so this is more of a sit-down establishment than a bar scene. Reservations are generally not needed, though it can get somewhat crowded at peak weekend times. View all feedback.
What Katarina doesn't like about Bohemian Spirit:
We want to visit Czech restaurant in NYC, because we are Czech and Slovak girls. So we want something from our national food. Food was really good. Portions were big, delicious. 5 stars really for it. But atmosphere and service did not so good impression. There was not music. Waiters were i will say “nemastni neslani”. There were also Czech waiters but they speak with us just English. They did not look like they care... View all feedback.
Rude, slow, disinterested service and a lame brunch menu prepared poorly — I would definitely stay away, at least for brunch.

Don't be fooled by the quiet environment and the lack of beer selection. What they lack in quantity is more than made up for in quality. This restaurant (in the bottom of the Czech Consulate) is a really unique and fun place to eat. Their beer is really high quality, hard to find elsewhere. Definitely worth a visit.
The good: We got the goulash dinner and thought it was very good with a nice dinner-sized portion. The server was quite warm and available whenever we needed something. The meh: Three stars because of the atmosphere was so-so, even on a Saturday night, the lack of transparency it was $5 for refills for small cups of club soda (I feel the server should have mentioned this before the bill came…ouch), and the Apple strudel was served pretty cold and lacked flavor. The quality of the food was prett … – show
I love this restaurant!! The Steak Tartare and Potato Soup were the best I've ever had. I would literally eat here a few times a week if I could. The staff is efficient and knowledgeable. I made the trip from upstate to this restaurant for a Meetup group and had an amazing time in their private dining room.
