Semi-hidden basement bar with an interesting vibe. The lights are excessively dark and the music a bit too loud even when empty, but it's fun and enjoyable. The bartender was chill, and they have a nice selection of quality import beers. I'd return if I find myself in the area again. View all feedback.
What Lisa Welch doesn't like about 124 Old Rabbit Club:
I wish I could give this bar no stars but unfortunately that option isn't available. Cool little bar but unbelievably rude bar staff, he just asked us to leave, fortunately I had finished my drink and was leaving anyway. When I questioned why he asked us to leave he refused to give me an answer. I have absolutely no idea why he asked us to go, my only thought is I tapped the bar twice along to a song....so so odd. Dimly lit bar with mostly beers and a couple of wine options. Music was great (I think it was 90s/00s rock), bartender was super nice and friendly.
A hidden gem. We missed it at first. It’s downstairs with a black door to the left of the obvious 124 street address. Bartenders were both super helpful and given my pickiness pointed me in the right direction with my beer choices. They were very knowledgeable about everything they carry. Lots of esoteric stuff you won’t see anywhere else. You won’t be getting anything standard here (no miller bud or coors). We had a lovely time.
Such a cool place! Hidden gem on Mcdougal street! Simply go down to the basement at #124. The metal door is filled with stickers on it. Go ahead and open it!
Not so cheap (like anyplace in New York) but a real hidden gem in an area usually overrun by university students: a not-so-loud and dark place to enjoy some quality beers.
