We had a Xmas lunch here for about 20 people. Meals had to be pre-ordered 24 hours in advance which a few of the guests weren't happy about, but it was a good idea and everything went so smoothly. All meals were brought out straight away and most of us were happy with our meals. They were quite generous servings too. I would return. Bon-bons were put on the tables which was a nice touch and Jane the chef was extremel... View all feedback.
What Aleix Velázquez doesn't like about Straits Cafe:
The service staff work really hard to cope with more than a few customers. Despite writing down our breakfast order it was completely wrong and we had to wait for the correct order. The second morning was more successful with excellent scrambled eggs. It was confusing that one staff member made toast for us the first day but another one said we should make our own in the toaster. People came in to order takeaway coff... View all feedback.
Great food....a bit more expensive and a limited menu, but high quality and great service
Ridiculous - totally understood she was the only one on but she seated and served others - even making their coffee whilst we hung waiting. Overworked waitress - polite but only seemed to be one on for breakfast. Ridiculous wait ruined experience at Rendezvous hotel put on another staff member for breakfast!
Came for lunch today with some work colleagues and was massively disappointed with the service. It was so ridiculous, we were laughing. One of us ordered a baked potato but was told they'd run out. Another ordered a club sandwich advertised as available as gluten free, but was told they'd ran out of GF bread. One of us ordered teriyaki chicken, but had to wait while they checked if they had enough sauce left. They did, but had to ask where the accompanying drink was, she'd forgotten to bring over. Was promised water for the table, had to ask for it, she'd forgotten. Was offered sauce for this chips - she brought it out after we had finished eating as she'd forgotten. Food was actually quite nice, but won't come here again for the terrible service.
We ate here both days for breakfast when we stayed in the hotel. We had omelet the first day and the price wasn't too bad. The have a basic breakfast menu but it is adequate. They only have a buffet breakfast on Sunday and you pay a bit more for that. Tea/coffee is free. There were a lot of people eating there. The staff were friendly.
Not happy with food, scrabbled eggs full of salt (salt was not requested or appreciated), Limited menu and cold coffee. Would suggest you head around the corner for your breakfast.
