What User doesn't like about Rice Cafe:
Husband and I had just finished looking for carpet at a nearby outlet , we thought we might have lunch at Rice Cafe Homebase . It's been over twelve months since our last visit . We both ordered quiche with salad and coffees . The coffees were fantastic , but the presentation of the quiches, with sauce, and the tossed salad was dreadful , We were disappointed , but we would try lunch another time !! View all feedback.
Have eaten at Rice numerous times and when in the area, is always our café of choice. Great food, and coffee delivered quickly with many gluten free options. Haven't had a bad meal but the burgers are our favourite.
Went on internet recommendations and we and several others were really impressed with the quality of the food, along with really good value. At least 30% cheaper than comparable places in the city.
We were regular customers at Rice Cafe but on a Sunday in September I noticed that my shirt was sticking to the back of the chair. On closer inspection we noticed black streak marks across the back of my shirt. We showed a staff member on leaving who didn't know what to do so I sent an email to Rice Cafe. After a week of no response I contacted their head office and sent the email to the owner. Eventually a staff member called me and advised that no one else had complained and that they would be replacing the tables and chairs some time in the future but couldn't say exactly when. I explained very clearly that I was not after compensation I just wanted to report the problem so it could be resolved. I suggested that maybe a solution was to cover the backs of the chairs but I was told to ask for a cushion next time I visited the cafe. She also offered me a free lunch and said she would email me the details of the staff members to contact. I wasn't interested in the free lunch I just wanted the problem resolved so we could continue to visit the cafe and not have to worry about damaging my shirt. Now 6 weeks has passed and I never received the email. We have stopped going to Rice Cafe because of their lack of customer care. And the other 3 couples that we introduced to the cafe also no longer go there. Businesses need to learn that when a customer makes a genuine complaint that they do so because they want to keep dealing with them. My complaint was never taken seriously.

Friendly staff, but a little slow taking orders at the counter. The menu has great choices for morning tea and lunch, with very reasonable prices. Definitely worth a visit while shopping at Aspley Homemaker City.
