Cute little cafe. Brilliant service. Had the apple and rhubarb pie as recommended by a friend. Yum! Sweet shortcrust pastry just like my grandma used to make :) tea was lovely and friends enjoyed their coffees (don't drink coffee, but they liked theirs). Really nice serene and quiet surroundings outside with the trees and the water feature, and little friends come to visit too!
I love this venue, it has always been a place to come for good food and peace to enjoy it in the centre of a very busy city. Today was the very first time I have had cause to find it less than pleasurable. First let me say that I am very aware that the resident ibis (big birds) can be a bit troublesome but part of the beauty of this venue is sitting watching the water dragons and the ibis in the lovely garden. Today, unfortunately, one of the male staff decided to repeatedly chase the birds around the tables. An ibis had smashed a glass on a table that had food remaining on plates ... Although the table had been vacated for some time it had not been cleared...unfortunate yes but if the tables had been cleared more promptly this would not have occurred. Instead of concentrating on clearing the tables more promptly..he then spent time harassing the birds every time he appeared outside. To make matters worse children were encouraging the birds by feeding them.....so the poor creatures were certainly receiving very mixed messages. It certainly did not add to my enjoyment on this occasion... Perhaps some subtle information asking people not to feed the ibis and some not so subtle advice the the aggravated young waiter to concentrate on prompt clearing of tables.... Still love the venue and the tranquility it usually offers.

The waiter was so nice and he was in such an upbeat mood and it made the whole place so much better Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $1–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I almost hate to review this place lest it becomes too popular! . This is one of my favourite go tos to bring visitors or just grab a coffee and do some work. Set against the backdrop of the gallery's beautiful architecture and fountains, grab a spot under the sprawling tree and relax. Enjoy quality food and coffee facilitated by friendly staff.
