Contribute FeedbackThe Public has had mixed reviews, with some diners disappointed by the food and service quality, labeling it as overpriced and underwhelming. However, others have praised the restaurant's beautiful decor and attentive servers. The menu offers a variety of dishes, with some standouts like the Kingfish and unique Peruvian fusion options. Despite some inconsistencies in food quality, Public seems to have potential, particularly for those looking for a chic dining experience with delicious drinks and a laid-back atmosphere. It might be worth another visit to try out different dishes and cocktails.
Last November, Public rebranded with new ownership, a new general manager, and a new menu featuring Peruvian fusion cuisine. The dishes were not only visually appealing but also bursting with flavor. From the delicious Peruvian-style ceviche to the perfectly cooked scallops, snapper, and pork dishes, every bite was a delight. The restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for casual dining or hosting private events in one of their private rooms. Public is a fantastic choice for those looking for delicious food and great drinks in a relaxing setting.
Cocktails were really tasty, served up by a really attentive and friendly bar dude. Forgot to ask his name. 5 stars for service. The wagyu brisket tacos were YUMMZ. Would prefer some acoustic music tho. Will definitely return!
Dishes are so delicious! It was Christmas Eve and not crowded. Dining environment is fantastic with decent decoration. Definitely deserves a try and a return!
Last week I had the great privilege to devour the new menu at one of Brisbane’s premium restaurants, Public. The menu here is anything but ordinary, and there was one dish on the menu that pique my interest incredibly, the beef ribs. Next stop… the dining room. The private dining space in Public
This is a modern looking restaurant with a equally modern menu. The challenge with the menu is to translate what each dish mean. For example KFD is obviously kangaroo floss with daikon. Seriously though the menu is tasty once you work out how the entree sized meals and share plates work. Back to KFD, I was expecting to taste more crunch but it didn't happen, the duck leg was well cooked and served on the bone. The share plate of pork comes with 6 decent sized pork belly pieces each with a layer of fat in the middle. The pork has a thin crunch spice layer on the skin and bottom of the belly.<br/ <br/ We ordered the choc brownie and lychee desserts. Both are winners with a mixture of foam, dried bits of something, ice cream and or cream.<br/ <br/ Staff are welcoming, service is prompt and food comes out quickly. I found the atmosphere a little noisy and even with 2 guests at my table we struggled to hear each other.
