I go here when I'm working locally. A small place opposite The Johnson Hotel. It's like going to a mate's house for a meal - the staff are friendly and it has a nice feel about the place. Always made to feel welcome. The food is very varied. Has a New Orleans kinda spin on a lot of things including the pizzas and pastas. However, they have lots of other mains to try and specials. I visited with my wife and kids for dinner during the school holidays. We didn't have a booking however we were able to get a table quite easily. Most of the seating it outdoors which isn't a bit deal in Brisbane. They have outdoor heaters which they turned on as we needed them. The tables are quite spread out and there is ample room to store a pram. They also have high chairs available. The food is a mix of Louisiana inspired Southern American food and Italian cuisine. So you can get things like gumbo and fried chicken along with pastas and pizzas. We stuck with the creole menu options and got a few plates to share amongst us. We had the soft shell crabs, crocodile cakes, waffle fries and gumbo. The food arrived promptly and the service is very friendly and attentive. The quality and taste of the food was average at best. The gumbo was really lacking in flavour and the soft shell crabs had more deep fried veggies than crabs. We also had their special desserts, however these took the longest to prepare and serve. Overall it wasn't worth the trip out of town merely for a meal.

My favourite is the prawns in a southern spicy style. So tasty. So spicy! I always have to blow my nose a few times (always a good sign I'm enjoying the spicy scran). This place mightn't have the views of the Story Bridge but for the tastes, atmosphere and friendliness it's well worth heading to. They also do excellent and unusual desserts.
I dined at Creole Soul Kitchen with friends last weekend on a recommendation from friends and am so glad that I did.The owners/staff were friendly and helpful, the wine great, the service prompt and the food simply delicious. Particular mention must go to the buffalo prawn dip - we all adored it!I would definitely return on my next trip to Brisbane. Highly recommended!
Visited Creole Soul Kitchen for the second time. It was deliciously different - to die for.The South-East USA style of food was different, plentiful and really great. The owners, Mark and Leena are delightfully friendly, the service was great and each serving was more than one person could eat. We'll certainly be back!
We took our "soul" sister to Creole Soul Kitchen for her birthday because it promised a lovely and intriguingly different experience. Boy, did we get that right! This little Bar/Kitchen provides the most wonderful relaxing dining experience that comes from the dedication, experience, and passion of the owners. Because Gumbo is a typical Cajun/Creole winter comfort food we all ordered the seafood gumbo and loved it. Unlike most American restaurant meals, the quantity was "just right", so we had room for the divine house made desserts of banana scroll and creme brulee. The food was delightful and different - my favourite foods are traditional simple "home cooking" foods from all around the world. Although I have tried for many years to find the ingredients for Cajun cooking such as file powder and Andouille sausage I have never been able to source them in Australia. Seemingly the chef at Creole Soul makes his own Andouille sausage and the lovely person who served our food spoke very knowledgeably about how they carefully create the traditional Gumbo. The Cajuns have been sent packing from France, Novia Scotia and mixed with the Haitians fleeing during the 1791 slave revolt. Their music is the essential heart and soul of Country, R
