What User doesn't like about Bar Barossa:
Bar Barossa is a bit of a favorite of the people from Brisbane town - it's very entertaining for taking clients out to lunch or an after work drink, or just relaxing on a Friday night with the missus or mates. I would definitely rate the wine better than the food, but that is not to say that the staff don't dry their darned hardest! Service is good old Queensland style, not over bearing and no-one constantly hassling... View all feedback.
The food and service were excellent. Bar Barossa has a very nice wine list. The setting is intimate and cozy. Take a walk along the river afterwards.
Four business colleagues joined me for a meal and discussion. Service was very good and the food memorable. The beef cheek I had was delicious and the portions adequate without being excessive. The friendly waiter helped us with the wine choice and was always ready when we needed something but wisely left us be when we were deep in discussion.Prices were OK at $32 to $35 for mains and the wine was excellent.Recommended
Arrived late into Brisbane and found this little treasure open. The menu was restrained with a great selection of choices. The waiter was friendly and whilst not being pushy with wine helped greatly in chosing something great to go with the meal I ordered. Reasonable food prices $34 for mains. I would go back again.
Lacked any real atmosphere although the food was good. The Manager was so ingratiating to anyone who stepped near the door, cutting off conversations and rushing over to them.We were halfway through our meal which was good and had been served to us by a delightful young english girl, when he began slamming tables together in our near vicinity and literally throwing chairs under them. It would seem a large party (12) of Brisbane's finest- [do they still refer to them as yuppies?] had come in separately and were taking their time over pre-dinner drinks at the bar, instead of seating themselves. His behaviour was a little OTT Reminded me a little of 'Basil Fawlty' (Fawlty Towers)They finally took their seats and he adopted his ingratiating manner again, wringing his hands together and making elaborate show of flinging his arms about. Looking back I should have looked upon it as free entertainment but somehow it spoilt what little atmosphere there was. Despite it's close proximity to our apartments and the quality of the meal,, we chose not to eat there again.
