I couldn't believe the quality of service my friends & I received. We were even asked if we would like to more closer to a window seat to watch out over the view. I would definitely recommend this place. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Matthew Thomas Cafe:
We knew Mothers Day would be busy but you really should not overbook like you did today if your kitchen cannot cope. The food took an hour to come out was cold and the poached eggs were hard. When you only have 1.5hours for a sitting and then asked to leave before you have finished makes for a very dissapointing morning. I could have certainly spent $129 on a more enjoyable experience somewhere else. The staff were a... View all feedback.

Situated in the revamped Masonic Hall right on the esplanade at Shorncliffe sits Matthew Thomas Cafe. The building itself has been tastefully decorated with tables and chairs plus a mini art gallery with works for sale.On this crisp morning we were greeted immediately, shown to a lovely table with bay views and water and menus brought promptly to the table.the breakfast menu had plenty to choose from, all a little more expensive than many places we've been. Service was excellent- not overpowering, very professional and friendly as well. Our food came just a the right moment. Both were delicious though not outstanding. Overall we enjoyed our breakfast experience thoroughly. The only comment I could make was the difficulty finding out the actual name to write this review. There were no names inside we could see. Possibly a name on the menu but a small name on the side of the building.
Amazing place to come to for coffee and amazing food, the staff are nothing less than smiles and kindness all round:)
10 of us just shared High Tea. We arrived to white linen tablecloths and lovely fine bone china setting. A lovely peaceful place. Small with a nice view over the bay. We were greeted by a lovely young woman who could not do enough to help us. We had a disabled lady with us And there was a back entry with a ramp for her to enter by. A glass of champagne followed by three tiered cake stands of goodies. Plenty of food for all, lovely fresh sandwiches and small scones plus little tarts, fudge etc. The younger ones in our group had iced frappes and milkshakes included. We had choice of four different teas and some lovely coffee/cappuccino. I would recommend this place and would definitely return.
We've been coming here a few times and everything seems to be getting better each visit. Service has greatly improved so too the menu choices which shows more variety. Fresh tasty ingredients still evident and now fully licensed make this little gem of a restaurant even more enticing. Beef hot pot could have had more flavour and been served hotter but chicken burger hit the mark.Overall could still improve but its definitely getting better.
