Finally! Sandgate has been screaming for a super funky place to go on a Sunday afternoon, and now we have one. Formally an access alley to the bike shop next door, Cardigan Bar's atmosphere is laid back and welcoming. Cardigan had amazing beers on tap, fantastic ciders and really good wine. The service couldn't be more friendly and relaxed and the live music is great. It's not trying to do everything, which is what I love about it. Food options are limited to cheese and olives which is really all you need for a relaxed afternoon or evening. But if you do get a little more hungry, the Thai place next door is happy to deliver take away to your table, or you can bring in pizza from down the road. The location is central and easy to get to. Seating is inside, around the bar or out on the footpath. I absolutely love this place.
Cosy hole-in-the-wall kind of bar with good wine, local brews on tap and tasting paddles available. Great atmosphere with al-fresco sitting available. Dog friendly!! Very friendly staff make you feel welcome. The food menu is limited to cheese board nibbles, but BYO food is welcomed. A great spot to relax, meet up, catch up, and unwind. Loved the music too (classic alternative rock)!
YAY! Sandgate finally has a funky little alley bar! :D The Cardy is a nifty little spot, with live music on weekends, great range of drinks, an everchanging art gallery on the walls i think you can buy the art if you're keen! ! It used to be an alley, which means space is limited, but they've added seating outside, which will be great in summer!
Have only been a few times but it is a cosy little bar and some good music, it would be nice to have a bit of jazz there too
