Hoopers - Brigantine
Hoopers
Description
Tucked beside a fresh fish market in a charming beach town, this tiny, family-friendly seafood spot serves fresh, locally sourced dishes — from standout Manhattan clam chowder and king crab to baby lobster tails and Old Bay blue crabs. Service is warm, attentive and reliably friendly, and portions offer solid value. Expect a cozy, casual atmosphere with checkered tablecloths, occasional waits and noise on busy nights; minor hiccups (delivery mix-ups, uneven shrimp, no public restroom) temper an otherwise highly recommended experience.

We primarily go to Hoopers for the crabs, which are excellent blue claw crabs seasoned perfectly with Old Bay. However, we did have one unfortunate experience with a batch of shrimp that was incredibly chewy and difficult to eat. Our visits have been exclusively for takeout, and the service is consistently quick with minimal crowding.
This is a fantastic local seafood restaurant. The service was genuine, warm, and friendly. The seafood we enjoyed was fresh and sourced locally—no pretentious chef flair here, just excellent seafood. The dining area is quite small, with a maximum of 15 tables, situated right next to a fresh fish market. I can see how visiting on a busy night might not be the best experience. However, we had a five-star experience on a Monday night. The food, service, and value were all exceptional. I can't wait to return to this wonderful place!
To start, we all ordered a cup of their famous New England clam chowder, which was tasty but not the best I've ever had. For my main course, I had the baby lobsters, which were much more enjoyable. My friends tried the pasta and mussels dish and the fried seafood platter, both of which they loved and had no complaints about. I sampled the mussels, and while they were decent, I've definitely had better. Overall, it was a great seafood experience and definitely worth the price. If you find yourself in Atlantic City or this charming beach town, I recommend checking it out!
This is a lovely family-friendly restaurant. The food was great! We visited on a Saturday night and had to wait about half an hour to be seated. It can get a bit noisy, so I recommend bringing some earplugs. Oh, and it's a BYOB place, which is a nice touch!
