Olive Tree
Description
The Olive Tree is a family-owned Mediterranean restaurant nestled in the heart of Bridport, Dorset, renowned for its fresh, locally sourced cuisine. Praised by The Sunday Times as One Of The Best Fish-Bistro Restaurants In Britain and by The Guardian as One Of The Best Fish Restaurants In Dorset, this charming eatery brings the best of the coast to your plate. At The Olive Tree, all dishes are cooked to order in an open kitchen, allowing the team to tailor meals to your personal tastes or dietary requirements with ease. Committed to quality, they work closely with local merchants, small growers, vineyards, brewers, and fishermen to ensure every ingredient is fresh and of the highest standard. While some authentic ingredients—like their Italian ice cream—are imported, The Olive Tree welcomes suggestions for local products, inviting you to chat with Simon or John. Beyond everyday dining, The Olive Tree hosts various events and offers private catering for weddings, parties, and other special occasions. Depending on your group size, a private dining room may even be available. For a relaxed conversation or to discuss your event needs, simply email [email protected] and arrange a coffee meeting. While the open kitchen policy means dogs aren’t permitted inside for hygiene reasons, outdoor seating on the pavement is available on sunny days for diners with dogs. The menu embraces flexibility for dietary needs, with gluten-free pasta, alternatives to bread, and adaptations to ensure everyone can enjoy their meal. Children are equally catered for with high-quality, freshly prepared dishes free from typical fast-food fare like chips or nuggets. At The Olive Tree, great food and friendly service come together to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where local flavors and Mediterranean charm shine.

We had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. The vegetarian options were fantastic and we were fortunate to secure a private room. The ambiance was great, although the downstairs restaurant was a bit small so it's best to make a reservation ahead of time. The service was good, with a rating of 4 out of 5. The price per person ranged from £20–30. The food was exceptional, earning a rating of 5 out of 5, and we highly recommend trying the Seafood Spectacular dish.
Simon and his team provide excellent service at this restaurant. The food is incredible, especially the pepperoni pizza and carbonara. I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is also top-notch. 5-star rating for both food and service. dine-in experience for dinner. Everyone at the restaurant deserves praise for their brilliance.
Party of 10 all ordered but had to wait while phones being answered had to ask for menus. One of the party did not receive their starter by the time we could get a member of staffs attention most had finished although order was cancelled they sent out and slammed plate in front of the party. Mains arrived 1 missing waited a long time attempts by staff to hide fact they had forgotten. A pet hate why serve hot food on cold plates ? A little more customer care and attention would have been appreciated as some of us felt ignored, not made to feel welcome and no one checked to make sure Happy with food etc
