Golden Chef - Bridgeview
Golden Chef
Description
Longstanding local Chinese spot divides opinion: some patrons praise hot, flavorful dishes like orange chicken and speedy online pickup, while others report bland, reheated-tasting meals, underwhelming kung pao and soggy egg rolls. Portioning and order accuracy can be inconsistent—seafood combos arrived with unexpected veggie-heavy counts—and value varies. The restaurant is casual with outdated decor and limited parking, but loyal fans will gladly drive for favorites. Best suited for quick takeout and nearby lunch crowds; expect hit-or-miss quality.

First time eating Golden Chef food. I ordered easily online and my food was ready when I arrived. I ordered the lunch special beef chop suey and also won ton soup. The food was excellent. The food temperature was hot. Very pleased. Decor outdated. Limited parking.
The orange chicken was good, and the chop suey was decent as well. However, I wasn't a fan of the kung pao chicken; the sauce was a light brown color and seemed clumpy.
I ordered the large seafood combo, but instead of getting what I expected, I received two pieces of each type of seafood. They also included 10 pieces of broccoli and 5 pieces of onions, which was a lot more vegetables than I anticipated. Overall, the portion seemed suitable for just one person.
This is the best Chinese food I've ever had! I'm really happy that my job is just two blocks away. However, even when I'm at home and craving Chinese food, I don't mind taking a 40-minute drive to eat here. I've tried other places and always felt like I wasted my money and time, but not with this restaurant!
