Very enjoyable restaurant, attended a wedding and reception here, very well laid out and the food was amazing.
Sunday lunch at its best. A really lovely building and a fantastic restaurant, service was amazing and the Sunday lunch was even better. A great price for three courses. We loved it
Outstanding food and service. The best part of staying at this hotel. Would come just to eat here.
Very well presented food in a charming hotel (The Great House) setting. Not a huge menu but enough choice. Good wines too. Service was good.
Food was good. Can't complain. Service was excellent.
This restaurant has received a mix of reviews, with some patrons feeling disappointed while others thoroughly enjoyed their experience. Some diners were unimpressed with the atmosphere, music, and close proximity of the tables, leading to a lackluster experience. However, other guests had a lovely time with delicious food, warm bread, homemade butter, and freshly made courses. Although there were inconsistencies with the service and food quality, the majority of visitors had positive experiences and praised the delicious meals, friendly staff, and relaxed atmosphere. Despite some minor issues with the plates not being warmed and confusion with table bookings, many customers found the food to be excellent, well-presented, and a great value for the money. Ultimately, while some reviews were mixed, the majority of visitors had an enjoyable dining experience and would recommend this restaurant to others.

Very enjoyed our evening, small menu, but great eating and beautiful atmosphere. only afterward were that the online booking by the fork did not work. the booking was made by phone when one of our party was made sick 2 days before and I arranged them to change the number only to find that they had no reservation for us despite confirmation emails and text messages from the fork. the staff was very helpful and for the same time and the date of phones gratefully booked.
Very friendly and helpful. Eating was excellent. beautiful old building and decor inside was clean and comfortable. beautiful round table for the five of us who helped with the conversation.
Eating was amazing and very well presented. we didn't want anything because the service was on the spot and a big ambiente was thrown in for a good measure.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming. eating was excellent, well presented and very good value for money. the atmosphere was relaxed and cooled. really good experience.
Visited this restaurant Previously.. Seated and given warm home made fresh bread and butter. First course arrived delicious, then given Amuse bouche, freshly made on premises. Choice of 3 different dishes for main course. Delicious deserts and coffees. This time totally different “no bread butter offered and no amuse bouche.” Meals were ok 2 course £15 and 3 course £18. Would say the way it was presented and cooked a totally different Chef. A little disappointing.

What a lovely lovely place. Recommended, especially if, like me, you prefer a limited and fine tuned menu. It usually indicates focus and great care. Good service too.
My wife and another family member both chose a battered fish option from the light bites menu. Arrived with a light batter and on a bed of pea purée. A nice variation on a pub classic. I opted for the vegetarian option of the mushroom stroganoff and I have to say it was probably the nicest version of this dish that I have sampled. The variety of types of mushrooms in the dish was quite exotic and far removed from the usual mundane button mushrooms. The crispy polenta and kale added to the mix of interesting tastes. Again, a great variant on a popular vegetarian dish. Overall, a very pleasant culinary experience, enjoyed with a pint of a local Welsh ale.
Anyone who thinks this is a good Sunday lunch must be a non cook as at £140 for a table of 4 with drinks) was so inferior to my wife's cooking the chef should be embarrassed to serve it. The beef was tough, the roast potatoes tasted like the frozen variety and not proper gravy. Worst of all the vegetables were all served in one bowl between four people so it was impossible to be selective as you could serve up soggy cauliflower cheese which carrots, peas etc. in one scoop. When we complained about the vegetables the chef must have taken exception as they brought out a huge bowl carrots. I did not want to leave a review but as I wrote to Leicester's and received no reply I thought others needed to aware before booking.
A bit late writing this review, but just getting around to it now. We chose this restaurant as we had family visiting and this place had great reviews. We were a party of 4 adults and a baby. We were not disappointed, the restaurant itself is very beautiful in a old building with lots of character and the food was really good. There was no children's menu available but the lovely staff were happy to cook up some soft cauliflower cheese for our little one. A very enjoyable experience and I would absolutely recommend this restaurant, especially for valentines day and anniversaries as it does have a lovely romantic feel to it.
Having been here before and had a great meal (partner wrote a positive review) we booked again for a treat. It felt different this time and a bit of a mixed bag really. The portions of bread appeared a little stale around the edges. Starters were good. Unfortunately for 32.00 each the steak was a bit of a disappointment. Overcooked and fatty around the edges. Desert was great and very well presented. Like a lot of places, prices have understandably increased but it felt like the service and standards were a bit hit and miss.
