It’s a nice quaint old house, but it’s very loud. There’s nothing to extort the sound not even curtains. The staff was quite confused. One waiter comes over and asked if we want water or a bottled water. We said sparkling bottled water. Bus boy came over and asked if we wanted water we said that we told the waiter we wanted sparkling bottle of water. The Bus boy ended up giving us regular water after talking to the waiter. Then we received our drinks then a different waiter took our order for appetizers and dinner says yes to put them in both the same time which we don’t like. I might change my mind after the appetizers and what I want for dinner based on if I’m full or not. I got the escargot I expected to be in the shell and it was in a tray of oil. It had oil taste, and that was it. I’ve had escargot plenty of times and I’d say that this was the worst one. Most of the food is good but it’s just tasteless. There’s not much taste so needless to say we will not be going back and I forgot to check my bill if they charged us for the sparkling water but didn’t get it. We used to be constant customers at the Arch before it changed ownership. This is our first time going to the Arch since the old owners retired and we were dissapointed with the overall quality of the restaurant. The general atmosphere of the Arch was not as cozy as it used to be. My wife ordered escargot and it was not as good as past. I ordered artichoke appetizer that was not what I expected. It was fried and did not taste good. Thus the first portion was disappointing. The main course my wife had the branzino fish which she loved. I had a filet mignon cooked medium. It was very tough and not what filet should be. It should be tender. For me it was not good. Also no side came with it and thus I had to purchase a side of mashed potatoes. Now comes the last course or so we thought the dessert. All we were asked is if we would like coffee or cappuccino or tea. There was no dessert menu. The only dessert that they offered when we began ordering was soufflé. We were expecting some other dessert to complete our dinner but no dessert menu was offered. For 2 people without tip it cost close to $200 for a meal that was not worth anywhere close to that amount. We were looking forward to a nice Anniversary dinner (which I mentioned in Open Table reservation but no one even said congrats) but instead had a 2 out of 5 star dinner. We will not be going back because of the quality of the food. In conclusion the old Arch always made great food and made you feel special. This is non existent with the new version.
Had Valentine's Day Dinner at the Arch Restaurant. They recently reopened after remodeling. The inside still looks nice and has a romantic atmosphere. However, it was noisier that previous visits. I think because the floor is now hard wood instead of a rug which absorbs some of the sound. The Beef Carpaccio was excellent. It was the best I have tasted in awhile. We had steak, which was very good, but loaded with salt. Everything had a lot of salt. I'm a salt lover and it was a bit too much for me. I had the chocolate lava cake for dessert. It was homemade and delicious. I was a bit disappointed that they did not have souffle's on the Valentine's day menu and wouldn't make them that night. That is my favorite part of going to the Arch and I feel it's their signature dessert. We also had a bottle wine. I did not recognize any of the selections on the menu so I asked the waiter for options. The wine he suggested was outstanding. It was a Pinot Noir and the price was reasonable.
