Reviews - Spread Eagle
Reviews summary
Nestled in a welcoming ambiance, the restaurant has garnered mixed feedback from patrons. Many appreciate the attentive and friendly service, with staff noted for their efficiency during larger gatherings. Meals are reasonably priced, typically ranging from £20-30, and while some dishes receive high praise, others have fallen short, with reports of undercooked or overcooked items. The pub-style menu offers familiar favorites, such as mixed grills and carveries, yet the overall consistency in food quality seems uneven. Despite some disappointing experiences, numerous diners still commend the atmosphere, cleanliness, and staff, making it a spot worth considering for future visits.

This hotel is very clean and modern, suitable for guests of all ages. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is stress-free. The only small issue with room 106 is that the toilet seat needs to be tightened. Overall, a fantastic experience and we will definitely stay here again when in the area. View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Spread Eagle:
We had a large party of 14 for a birthday celebration. After placing our orders, we were informed that two of the meals were not available. We had to choose different meals and most of them arrived promptly. However, we had to wait an additional 10 minutes for the remaining three meals, one of which was for a child. Unfortunately, the child's meal was overcooked and tough, so we had to request a replacement. One of t... View all feedback.

Great experience, carvery was lovely, one of the best mash potato i have ever had, stayed over night, room was really comfy, same spec of premier inn at least. Had a slight “hiccup” with the breakfast prepayment, however the staff was really understanding, kind, and resolved the issue in so time with a lot of good will and patience. Thank you Jaz you have been a great help. Went to the Spread Eagle for a celebratory meal for my Grandsons birthday. The food was excellent, well cooked and promptly served. The two steaks and a bottle of wine was a bargain! Good food good service Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Being vegetarian, most carvery charge a lower price for just vegetables with no meat or vegetarian option. Unfortunately, you have to pay the same price here for just a plate of veg, which makes it rather expensive. Saying that the food is always hot, nice and tasty and staff are always friendly. Unfortunately the cappucino, athough nice, is always luke warm so by the time you get to your table, it's cold. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This is a cheap and cheerful pub that has recently been redeemed. I would have avoided the place after some disappointing experiences on the day and.
This is a beautiful pub located only at the outer aprons of penkridge from the a449 and a5. also easy to reach from m6, as it is not far from crossing 12.
I have used the spread eagle frequently for work (before to covid), but now back in normal mode. an overnight stay for the work in stafford and booking for another visit today. my wife was with me this time. she wants to come back with me next time! excellent carvery as usual the best. gent servierchef was great. manager very helpful. great accommodation.
Good choice of karvery, good pub food, very good staff and friendly, situated junc a449/a5 parking very good.
Very welcoming reception. The room was immaculately clean and well presented. Plenty of towels. Unfortunately I was unable to get the soap dispenser to work at the sink and in the shower. A box of tissues would also be useful. The food and service in the pub was excellent and I would definitely return.
