The neighborhood had a bit of a sketchy vibe, and the parking lot felt a bit intimidating. The atmosphere reminded me of Staten Island. But let me tell you about the food—it was outstanding! The homemade beef patties were the best I've ever had. The jerk chicken was both spicy and delicious; I highly recommend going for the dark meat. And don't miss the rice and beans topped with oxtail gravy. Just ignore the woman w... View all feedback.
What Kierra H doesn't like about Island Cuisine:
DO NOT EAT HERE! I saw the BIGGEST cockroach crawling on the wall in this place! If there's one, there are definitely more. Please check your food before you eat! View all feedback.
I've been coming here for years, definitely authentic Jamaican food. And I know this because all of my family is Jamaican and I've eaten this all my life so it's highly recommended by me. I don't think they're too expensive as far as pricing either. The guy who is always there is really friendly. I think they have a decent selection of choices. It's only take out and only cash. There's no where to sit or stand. It's just an in and out kinda place. I wouldn't really want to sit in there either because it's in a shady place coming from an outsider standpoint. Doesn't stop me from coming though!
This is the only Jamaican restaurant that my family and I ever visit in Long Island. The food is always fresh and tasty. Spicy jerk chicken, curry goat with rice and peas , or sautéed king fish, you can never go wrong with whatever you choose. Been going for 10 years and will never stop going.
Beef patties are delicious, jerk chicken is delicious, rice, beans and plantains are pretty decent, def recommend.
The jerk chicken was ok, it was moist but not as flavorful as others I've tried. Having their jerk sauce did help(be warned it very spicy) . $8 for a small platter. I'd skip the rice. It was mushy with little flavor. If I happen to be in that hood again I'd stop by for a jerk fix. Other than that, it'll be the last time I go back
Great Jamaican restaurant. Food is great jerk chicken is awesome and the cabbage to die for. The oxtails were also amazing. The prices were very reasonable for the portions. I will make this place a regular. I only gave it 4 stars do to the location. And I feel that the place should be bigger and have a place to eat in.
