With so many restaurants in the area it was a difficult choice where to go but this turned out to be a great choice. The mix of menu options available, with an English language menu on request, is very good from simple tapas plates to full blown courses. Starter was a potato and garlic soup served with four slices of baguette, very nice if a little salty. For mains I had a salad with lamb skewers. It was a great sala... View all feedback.
What Klaus-Dieter Hartung doesn't like about Pio Tapas Bar:
The tapas here are very fresh and tasty. Excellent food, really. But the staff... They lifted the art of 'ignoring guests ' to a new level. Rude manners and if you can 't hear them, they are starting to shout at you. After this bad service, I was asked for a tip on their pay terminal. For the kitchen they told me (probably because they know their hospitality is below zero). Same owner as Hillman 's taverne opposite t... View all feedback.
Dishes do not taste like real dishes from Spain. Blant and the only spice used was garlic more or less. Paella con verduras is the ONLY warm vegetarian main dish. Service was ok though.

In the taverne, they cheated with the bill a day later...
We had planned to go to another tapas restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews but it was too busy so we ended up here instead. We were served by 2 different waiters, one was very attentive and friendly, the other much more disinterested. The food was ok, but not authentically Spanish to my mind. The portions were decent sizes, but I'm used to more interesting flavours from Spanish food. If I could give this a rating of 2 and a half, I would...it doesn't quite deserve 3, but 2 is a bit harsh!
We hadn't had tapas since we were in Soain so Pio was our choice for an early dinner. We sat outside but under cover as it had been raining, the wait staff were very pleasant. My Sangria was great, and we ordered four tapas plates to share. They were well cooked and tasty and very enjoyable.
