This is an old Motel 6, and the rooms still resemble the outdated ones that feel only slightly better than a jail cell. However, the price was reasonable, so I booked a night there through Orbitz. I arrived at the Travelodge by Wyndham in Brattleboro, VT, at 7:30 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2022, only to be informed that housekeeping had not yet prepared a room for me and that they wouldn’t have one ready by 9:00 PM! I asked the clerk if I would be charged if I decided to find another place to stay, and she assured me I wouldn't be. However, I later discovered that I was indeed charged. I’m still trying to resolve this issue with Orbitz. It seems like the hotel might have been encouraging guests with cheaper reservations (like me) to seek other accommodations so they could then resell those rooms at a higher price. I wouldn't trust this hotel with a reservation again.
I would give this place zero stars if I could! My boyfriend and I became homeless last week and ended up at the hotel now known as the Travelodge by Wyndham in Brattleboro. The staff has treated us terribly. We were forced to move to a room on the upper floor because the lock on our original door was broken. They knew about the issue and still put us in that room without telling us. After having to take my boyfriend to the ER because he was unwell, we returned at 3 AM and couldn’t get in! The staff on duty had no idea how to help. When we finally got to our new room, the sink was clogged and the cable wasn’t working. It took over 10 hours for someone to come fix it! The staff were very rude and dismissive towards us. I’m grateful to never have to return here! If you want a good experience, DO NOT come here!
When we drove up to our room, I was relieved to find it was very clean. There was no carpeting, and everything was quite basic. However, it was ridiculous to be charged for Wi-Fi, which we decided to forgo. My internet connection was also very unreliable, which was odd. Unfortunately, we had a terrible night's sleep due to a loud banging noise from the pipes. It persisted throughout the night, making it impossible to rest. When we checked out, they asked how our stay was, and we explained that we barely slept because of the disruptive noise. It turned out that the ice maker upstairs wasn't insulated properly, leading to the noise. Ugh. Just be sure to avoid that room if you can!
This place is no longer a Motel 6; it's now a Travelodge, and I've seen the police here three times in just a few hours. The TV is practically useless, and the internet connection is so bad that it constantly freezes. The room itself is clean, and the bed is firm and new. However, the sheets are yellowed and stained, and the cheap blanket has burn holes in it. I don’t ask for much—just a clean, comfortable space and a hot shower. Unfortunately, it doesn’t feel comfortable here; despite the cleaning, it doesn’t give off a clean vibe. I’m resorting to using my mobile data to watch Netflix on my tablet because the TV is impossible to use; it freezes more often than it works.
Additionally, the toilet paper holder was falling off the wall, there was a patched hole in the shower surround, and the room lacked a coffee maker and a hair dryer. The internet and TV service were also very poor. Since it was late, we were exhausted, and we had already paid, we reluctantly decided to stay. Surprisingly, we managed to sleep well, but we couldn't wait to leave. We're just hoping we didn't catch anything during our stay!
