Our server, who was lovely, offered us complimentary desserts, and we enjoyed the flan and tiramisu cake paired with Vietnamese coffee and Baileys, which were both very good. We heard that there would be changes to the kitchen staff next week, and we sincerely hope that's the case! The overall experience was lacking in quality food, unfortunately. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Lychee Bistro Lounge:
The food was good overall, but there were some issues with our order. They initially served us steak tips that were overcooked, but they took them back and prepared a new batch for us. As for the desserts, they didn't look anything like what we had seen in the pictures. We ordered flan, but it was broken instead of being served as a solid piece as shown. We also requested a sorbet served in a pineapple, but instead r... View all feedback.
For appetizers, we ordered spicy edamame ($6), truffle fries ($9), and tamarind lollipop wings ($19). The spicy edamame was perfectly cooked, delivering a nice kick paired with a delightful garlicky flavor. The truffle fries were a highlight; the portion was generous, and the truffle flavor was distinct. I appreciated how crispy they were and the aioli served on the side was a great touch. The wings were decent, although they might have been just a tad too salty for my taste. I was hoping for a sweeter tamarind flavor, but instead, the fish sauce flavor overwhelmed the dish, reminding me of "canh ga chien nuoc mam." The order came with eight wings, and I took most of them home to enjoy with rice later. I thought it was fantastic that they provided a reusable fabric bag for takeout! For our main courses, we both opted for the steak pho ($26). This is not your typical humble pho, so adjust your expectations accordingly. I truly appreciated the presentation; it arrived in a hot bowl, allowing me to dip the super tender tai steak. It came with all the usual garnishes. I wasn’t sure how they could enhance this dish, but the pho noodles were precooked and just lumped together in the bowl, requiring some effort to separate them in the broth. I understand why they didn't add them beforehand, as they would likely become overcooked. The broth could have had a bit more depth, but I still found it enjoyable thanks to the aromatic flavors, and it wasn't just drowning in MSG. One downside was that the pho came with disposable bamboo chopsticks. Unlike the rest of the tableware, which was not disposable, the splintery chopsticks felt a bit cheap. Additionally, I was not a fan of the meatballs in the pho; they were far too spongy and soft for my liking. Finally, we requested some black pepper…
We had an amazing evening at this restaurant! The food was fun and tasty, and there was a great selection of interesting drinks. We were thrilled to take advantage of the special on a wine flight paired with wings, which we ordered. The atmosphere was really cool, and Judy was an excellent server. We will definitely return!
We visited this restaurant on a quiet Wednesday evening to celebrate my birthday, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice! The service was excellent, the atmosphere was bright and relaxing, and the food was absolutely amazing. The menu truly offers a unique fusion of flavors! We ordered several appetizers, including kimchi-loaded fries, eggplant, popcorn tofu, marinated tofu, and corn ribs, and each dish was not only delicious but also creatively presented. We're eager to return soon to try more items from the menu. This new spot is definitely worth checking out! And let's not forget, the cocktails were great too!
