I want to thank Olivia, Daniel, and my team for making my afternoon tea birthday celebration so special. It was truly amazing. The sandwiches, cake, and prosecco were all wonderful. You all went above and beyond, and I want to personally thank you for how well you all were commented on by my guests. Thank you again. I know Sharon wasn't there, but the booking was organized perfectly. View all feedback.

During my stay at a hotel on Shrove Tuesday while away from home, I was really craving pancakes. I was surprised to find that the hotel did not have pancakes on their menu that day. I expressed my disappointment to Phillip, the kind and venerable bartender. He immediately assured me that he would try to accommodate my request. He spoke to the chef and in no time, I was served freshly made pancakes with lemon and sugar. They were absolutely delicious! I am grateful to Phillip for going out of his way to make me a happy and satisfied customer. This is truly excellent customer service!
We often visit Midland Eating and it offers a nostalgic taste of old Bradford. The restaurant maintains an old-world ambiance while also serving modern cuisine. It is the perfect place to celebrate or to relax. A special shout-out to Philippe, who works in the bar and restaurant. He is a fantastic host, charming, funny, and always knows when to bring coffee or make a meal perfect. Whether the bar is bustling or quiet, Philippe runs it smoothly and creates a cheerful atmosphere. This is the best dining experience for miles around. Also, a big thank you to the chef for the delicious homemade chips!
I have a great time here. the hotel staff we amazing, they were all very courteous and friendly. nothing was too much for them. eating in the restaurant was delicious and really cheap. the hotel itself is really old and parts that need to be updated, but the main reception area looks beautiful. very enjoyed our short stay and would definitely go back.
I’ve actually been a bit worried about writing this review because one person we dealt with was so aggressive. No idea who he was. We booked a Groupon deal for people for afternoon tea. Upon arrival we were told our ‘table’ or bunch of...tables grouped together (with a sofa and a few low seats) was ours in the lobby area. We asked to be moved. To note it’s because we were a group of We thought we would be a bit loud as it was a celebration. We were told there was a wedding. We were right in the middle of the lobby. We were not allowed due to low staff to sit in their restaurant. They basically had one member of staff to do all the bar and all the serving for afternoon tea. On a side note she was lovely. Now we as a group have done afternoon tea in places like the Ritz, Claridges etc but we’ve also had some lovely lovely afternoon teas in places that charge similar prices to the Midland. In all fairness we weren’t expecting much from the afternoon tea. Sandwiches and scones were large but pleasant. Cakes probably too sweet. But it was fine for the price. Notwithstanding all that what concerned me the most was the way we were given options of where to sit and these were withdrawn. Actually to cut to the chase the deputy manager we think basically as a mistake offered us the mezzanine. There was a wedding so we couldn’t have it we were happy to have it in the bar. That’s all she had to tell us. We already knew we couldn’t have tea in the restaurant as they were low on staff hence the tea was set up in the lobby. Instead of her just telling her she made a mistake she brought this man with her to talk to us like a back up. He had an unpleasant and aggressive actually cocky manner it’s like he was ready to shout us down should we push back or say we were unhappy . It’s like he was he security guard or something and ready for a fight with a bunch of ladies who had just wanted a pleasant afternoon tea (not in the lobby surrounded by the general public and didn’t want to be in the main walk way with the Hotel door /lift all very close to us). Anyway there was no need to speak to us like that or bring the ‘heavy’ to deal with us. Just made us all feel really uncomfortable. Which is a shame as we’ve had a family wedding at the Midland and really enjoyed it. We won’t be back. (PS everyone else who came for afternoon tea got lovely bone china we didn’t just plain white coffee cups). Very understaffed and poorly trained senior management (or whoever the aggressive man was).
